Mississippi finally bans Slavery

Mississippi has ratified the thirteenth amendment, [i]finally[/i]... It's been like a century and a half. Any Mississippians here? How does it feel to be the most ass backwards racist state?Sorry, I mean "[url=http://momocrats.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/08/22/dr_evil_laser.jpg]clerical error[/url]"

  • The 13th amendment became law when 2/3 of the states ratified it. Whether or not Mississippi ratified it doesn't change anything. It also wasn't a matter of them not ratifying it--what actually happened is that the ratification wasn't officially archived. So we have the registering of a ratification that was done in 1995.
