Mississippi finally bans Slavery
Mississippi has ratified the thirteenth amendment, [i]finally[/i]...

The 13th amendment became law when 2/3 of the states ratified it. Whether or not Mississippi ratified it doesn't change anything. It also wasn't a matter of them not ratifying it--what actually happened is that the ratification wasn't officially archived. So we have the registering of a ratification that was done in 1995.

I'm from Mississippi. I hate parts of it, but just because this just happened doesn't mean we've all been secretly hoping to bring back slavery or something, jerk. And yes.. we have shoes and indoor plumbing.. asshat
