If listen to 2:45 in the ViDoc, it says if we fail, the last light of civilization will fade out. So if we purposefully as a whole decide to fail, we can wipe out the human race (or at least civilization and do away with the factions) and force Bungie to re-write the story.
I think this is kind of interesting. Anyone else think about this?

We're going down.

We should have done this

We need to blow up the Traveler, it'd be hilarious.

You will try, but I will stop you.
If we decided to end the Human race
I thought we already did. Oh wait... sorry, wrong thread.

I don't think "failure" was supposed to be taken in that context. I'm quite sure the game will have a pre-determined beginning, middle, and end. That doesn't mean the environments can't still be dynamic.

I don't think that's how this really works. -__- It's just putting a fire under you, it's a story mechanic, saying there's grave danger in failure. It makes you want to win. I don't think humanity will actually die out in the game if you decide to suck.

Only Bungie fans would think of such a hilarious way to play the game. ^_^

It would be pretty cool if the community can collectively lose the game. I guess it would all start over? I have no clue how the overarching plot is going to work so I'm not sure if that even makes sense. That's a neat thought, OP.

LET'S DO IT

You watch your corpse lay on the floor from a third person view and hear enemies laughing and continue to shoot you.
