Fictional universes have a cute little thing called canon. There's an alleged science behind things in these universes and I find it foolish to throw out cannon and a sense of continuity for the sake of eye candy.
I say, as an avid consumer, that I don't want my gender to be marginalized for fan service.

Well then you appear to be in the minority. Most people do want your gender to be marginalized for fan service. At this point it's just something I've come to expect in video games, as should you. Just curious though, what are some examples of games that portray women in a satisfactory way, according to you?
