How the hell did the NASA NOT detect the meteorite?
WTF, this is 2013.

Something moving that small that fast is almost impossible to detect in the vastness of space. They've said before that we don't yet have the capability to see an extinction-level asteroid until its too late. Wouldn't that make one of these even harder?

It hit Russia. I dunno if they can like detect it and then make an estimate on the location it's going to hit but if they can then yknow... it's Russia. NASA is American... and yeah... xD
