Females fighting in the UFC for the first time on February 23rd. How do you feel about it?

Every previous post I've made on B.net regarding MMA has been met with the enthusiasm of a male porn star facing castration. However, hope springs eternal and this time the discussion includes reasonably attractive womenz. At any rate, Saturday the 23rd will mark the first time women will fight in the octagon. With Liz Carmouche being involved, it also marks the first time an openly gay fighter is fighting in the UFC, but that headline has gotten decidedly less play. ATM, the ladies are only getting one division, 135 lbs. Women in the UFC is something that Dana White(UFC President) had previously stated would never happen and the only reason it's happening now is that Ronda Rousey loves breaking arms. I've been a fan of hers for a while now and a fan of Women's MMA even longer. The girls get after it. I'm interested in what the rest of you have to say though. Are you at all interested in watching ladies scrap? More or less so than the guys? Are you at all a fan of MMA and if you're not, would this be more likely to draw you in or turn you off it entirely?

  • With all the hyp they've been giving Rousey, they better hope she wins... Though, that hasn't been much of an issue for her in the past. I didn't know that Carmouche was gay, though. I suppose that doesn't help the stereotype any... Still, I'm interested to see the reaction they get.

    • Oh, and when we talk about openly-gay fighters, what about Nick Ring? That guy has to be gay. His nickname is "Promise Ring".

      • I saw some chick fights in Strikeforce. Lets just say I found it entertaining when Chris Cyborg beat the crap out of some random chick. That "women" could beat up 99% of guys out there.

      • its not the first time for women fighting in the octagon... other promotions have held events for women. the ufc has even had female matches, but they have been held off the main cards (not even the "facebook free" fights) or completely non-publicised and in some obscure venue.
