After hearing a bunch of news on the new xbox, what do you think about the new rumor saying that the new xbox games will come with a code on or somewhere in the game case which locks the game to your hardware? Do you think that the new rumor if true will cripple Gamestop, even if only the xbox will be doing it?
Here is a link to an article about the Next gen rumor

This is a whole s*** storm of market crashing. Bluntly putting it: If second hand games are eliminated I'm sure second hand game retailers will be crippled naturally, we won't be able to trade-in our games anymore which slows how many games we can buy, which will decrease the amount of gain the devs get anyway. I think it is a vicious cycle that will repeat itself many times and will work in a model similar to that of a recession.

DRM is E.T. 2600 reincarnate.

Its not like they wont sell "cd keys" to activate a used title.

Edited by xImNotProx: 2/14/2013 4:35:28 PMA source told Kotaku that kinect basically needs to be always on in order for the console to even function. This article talks about a scary potential scenario involving the new kinect. http://kotaku.com/5958307/this-kinect-patent-is-terrifying-wants-to-charge-you-for-license-violation

That makes no sense, why would they do this? If you play a game once, then afterwards it's considered used. So, does that mean we can only play our games once? If so, then I'm sticking to my PS3/360.
-
They sure as hell better be releasing a demo with every game then, I like to rent games to see how they play then either buy it or tell people to avoid it
-
So what if my hard-drive fails or my Xbox breaks? Unless the games will be linked to accounts, the hell am I supposed to do then.
-
If both consoles do it, then you're potentially looking at the next video game crash. If one console does it, then practically every publisher and developer will sell exclusives solely to that console.
-
I don't see the issue here even if Gamestop shuts down there are other ways to get games. Also not being able to use used games really only affects poor people.
-
If the rumours are true then Microsoft are going to find that the new Xbox sales are going drop dramatically. I bet many people like myself are going to stick with the Xbox 360. I'll only get the Nextbox for exclusives such as Halo 5.

So only your xbox could use the disk? That just sounds like another cheap way to get people to spend more money on disks...
