I'm seeing some swirly decorative stuff that isn't numbers at about 10:00 and 4:00. Make sure to not put those in as numbers.

Anyone figure out the font for this - might be able to use it do some comparisons.
-
Threre's simply not enough pixels in some of the cases to even do an analysis though...

Edited by freefall722: 2/14/2013 1:22:31 AMclosest I've gotten is News Gothic - the problem is the numbers sit on a custom curve so it's hard to line them up. What this would help with is the few numbers that have a bunch of known white pixels around them but only a few black pixels - if we had the right font white pixels should never overlap so we could cross out a few numbers that way to narrow it down.
-
Good thinking, I'll see what I can do with this
-
it looks like a number going over a slash
-
It's the ".jpg" extension leaving the boundaries of the circular pattern.
-
ah now i can see it
-
Edited by freefall722: 2/14/2013 12:55:20 AMTotally see it now. So /980882___8314_985.jpg - ish

Wow I leave for half the day and it still isn't fully visible. This does not bode well for the rest of the week. It seems as though interest dies down every day and the puzzle becomes more difficult to view on top of that.
-
Yeah what I wouldn't give for the geomasks of the first day now.
-
time to test random numbers.

Edited by gestuart88: 2/14/2013 12:46:16 AMshould we just hand crunch the numbers of this - if there are only 4 blanks, we could each take a range of numbers? http://alphalupi.bungie.net/980882___8314_985.jpg plug and chug: 100 numbers take about 5 minutes to hand compute Just plug in these values for the balnks in the url listed above right? Anyone else on board? 0000-0100: Me 0101-0200:?
-
Seems suicidal unless we have another number...
-
Edited by RC_Villain: 2/14/2013 12:56:12 AMHell, i'll do 101-200. Nothing better to do. Wait, with that space between the 4 and the 9 it gets a hell of a lot harder. Might as well just wait.
-
Yeah, need at least one or two more numbers to even start hand crunching the numbers. To many possibilities. Unless someone can develop some sort of program to test URL extensions
-
Writing a code to test them automatically would be the best bet if we want to brute force it. I'm confident that we can uncover the image enough in the next few hours though.
-
It's easy to write a code that can concatenate different strings of numbers together, but how do we test if the URL produces an image?
-
If it is an automated process, I believe you would just let the program compute the numbers and you have to be monitoring the process incase the URL does produce an image
-
I don't know man, i'm no tech expert. Every number combination except the right one will bring up a 404, is there a way to exclude all the numbers that result in 404 errors?
-
There would be but any extension that leads to a 404 will still have to be tested in the first place and then archived :/
-
Seems a likely chance, Tuesday's challenge took hardly any time at all so it is very possible this one will be found within next few hours. As for flooding the site. I think it should be an hourly attempt. A centralised attempt gets confusing with all of the timezones.

Edited by gestuart88: 2/14/2013 1:01:28 AMif its easier to leave that last number the same then wat if we did 000-100 with 0 000-100 with 1 that's only a hundred iterations. Maybe we wait
-
Yeah, there's 1000 for each different number on the end. I don't know about you, but i sure don't feel like manually punching in 10,000 different numbers in the hope that one of them is right.
-
oh damn it is 10,000 your right

Edited by Roland Deschain: 2/14/2013 12:45:55 AMEDIT Never mind
