Look at every other ARG and Viral campaign ever run by any video game company ever. Not to mention, do you realize how much can change about a video game in 2 years? For them to have posted something and relied on that content being the exact same in 2 years time and playing a viral campaign off of it is pretty much the most improbable thing right now.
I know everyone gets all excited about external info. Halo no longer belongs to Bungie and they don't have the ability to re-use any of Halo's assets in future Bungie titles because all of the rights to the characters, plot, models, etc belong to MSFT. So it would be a legal folley on Bungie's part to have done so. Resulting in lots of money because it would be using un-owned copywritten material to promote a game (of which is to be sold at retail) for personal gain.
That's illegal and Bungie doesn't like lawsuits.
Now you guys should realize why we should stick to the plate that's currently at the table and not go trying to find dessert so quickly.
