This is an odd video posted a while ago and it has been linked in various posts related to this Destiny VRG. I took a screenshot
http://imgur.com/U9ru9oy
.
Someone posted this in the video:
Durandal the sword of endurance(marathon)
Curtana the sword of mercy(halo)
Joyeuse the sword of joy(destiny)
that makes things seem legit since the uploader is "joyeuse7".
Thoughts?

Edited by Gr8test Beast: 2/13/2013 8:33:42 PMI managed to decipher the morse code in the video. It translates to "Take up your arms, my children. Take up your arms and embrace your destiny."
-
also here is a 20 min version on twitch
-
It's just the youtube video looped
-
If you look at the date that thing was uploaded, you can tell that is fake instantly. It is fan made.

Edited by Nemesis Enforcer: 2/13/2013 4:37:35 PMOne thing caught my eye on that video is the humanoid torso on top reminds me of Adam from the Evangelion anime. According to Wikipedia about the sword Joyeuse "Some legends claim that it was forged to contain the Lance of Longinus within its pommel". In the anime the Lance belonged to Adam and was used by the Eva's to battle the angels. The cool thing is that the Lance of Longinus is also called the Spear of Destiny. I wonder if there's a connection.
-
nice find.. i forgot about the lance in that anime.
-
Yeah I love that anime. :) Too bad I just found out the video is non Bungie. There's a LOT of reading to catch up to.
-
it may not be bungie but i think it was atleast an employee who was setting up this ARG. also at the time of the videos posting URK was problably not informed of its relevance
-
If this guy is using tumblr as his main place of communication or posting then I don't think it's bungie. Bungie wouldn't use public sites like that for an ARG.

Edited by Inspector Rack: 2/13/2013 2:59:39 PMThe tumblr that is possibly associated with this youtube account updated yesterday. The new post had one of the diamond symbols hidden in it but the original didn't. Still not sure if it is legit.
-
Joyeuse things only started popping up after Cortana's thread about Joyeuse and the Bungie formula.
-
You guys have to look at the post date:
Jul 12, 2011
This has been going around for a while but it's not related to this sadly. Turned out to be a fan run thing for a Marathon expansion.
-
Who's to say that Bungie didn't plant it that far back? It certainly seems like that's something they would do.
Turned out to be a fan run thing for a Marathon expansion.
Can you prove that it isn't legit?
-
The original thread this was posted in had both Urk and DeeJ post in it saying it wasn't them - that thread also spawned an offshoot thread regarding how difficult it was to find employee posts in threads on bungie.next. (obviously still a problem ;) )

Edited by Your MOM is MC: 2/12/2013 9:53:50 PMLook at every other ARG and Viral campaign ever run by any video game company ever. Not to mention, do you realize how much can change about a video game in 2 years? For them to have posted something and relied on that content being the exact same in 2 years time and playing a viral campaign off of it is pretty much the most improbable thing right now. I know everyone gets all excited about external info. I saw this video last year because a friend of mine on here pointed it out to me and we recognized the dismembered sanghelli body hanging in this picture. Halo no longer belongs to Bungie and they don't have the ability to re-use any of Halo's assets in future Bungie titles because all of the rights to the characters, plot, models, etc belong to MSFT. So it would be a legal folley on Bungie's part to have done so. Resulting in lots of money because it would be using un-owned copywritten material to promote a game (of which is to be sold at retail) for personal gain. That's illegal and Bungie doesn't like lawsuits. Now you guys should realize why we should stick to the plate that's currently at the table and not go trying to find dessert so quickly.

Just gonna point out... To me the body does not look sanghelli to me..the torso even though its partially removed its too wide to be an sanghelli. Also the face is too dissimilar i believe it may be one of the new enemies.
-
Zoom in on the face more. You'll see the mandibles.
-
to me it looks similar to the masks in these pictures..
-
The face on the hanging body is extended farther out than those masks are and okay, look at how many fingers it has and look at how the fingers are shaped. These guys have 5, the elite has 3. Much longer might I add. Look, if you don't believe me, at least wait for a confirmation that it's not involved the viral.
-
i was talking about the guys on the bottom of the picture.. they appear to have 3 fingers
-
You may be, and probably are, correct. But this article gave me the idea http://www.cracked.com/article_18896_10-mind-blowing-easter-eggs-hidden-in-famous-albums.html. I know that CD's and games are drastically different, but read #9 and #8. The video is very cryptic and vague, perfect to bring out at a later date without having to worry about copyright issues. That all being said, I do agree it probably isn't related, but I still have that tiny nugget of belief.

We all do. During my first ever ARG for IRIS (I followed at the tail end of ILB so I can't say I participated in that) I got locked in a loop of misleading puzzles being played by some fan who wanted to seem like he was part of the whole ARG scheme. Of course I followe CI around more than I followed the other guy, but it just goes to show how some things can get you off track when you get too excited. Just be sure to keep your eye on the prize and everything will be fine. Viral games like these don't usually get anymore complex than using a few programs, maybe going to a few websites and doing some crazy ass Radio Telemetry. Other than that, you don't do much else lol.
