Here's my cleaned up version of the image - the steps I'm using to do this get better each output I add (I got past the additive noise issue) So I'll keep uploading as I add more output to it

This is what I've got with 20 samples, so I've been able to do the FFT and get all of the samples to add to the overall image, but you just blew my mind with such a clear black/white image. How are You getting it out so clearly? Edit: I haven't got this formatting thing down yet.

  • How many geomasks have you piled together to form that?

  • There are currently 27, and I'm adding another every five minutes.

Here's your image partly cleaned up - If you get me all the corresponding right images that went into this we can separate out what would be the background (what I made grey). Throw all the right side images that correspond to the left side images you used into one photoshop document and make every layer but the bottom one screen - that should get you the mask for that set.

  • Here are 2 sets of images, about 10 minutes apart. Files are numbers so you know which files belong together. http://imgur.com/8WN7WEq (output.png) http://imgur.com/TZL0cRf (geomask.png) http://imgur.com/8nDXuqy (output1.png) http://imgur.com/pvUO0Iy (geomask1.png)

  • Dang. I haven't been saving the right side images for this. This was made by setting all of the layers as the equivalent of Screen in Gimp after the Fourier transform, but only on the lefthand images, as I couldn't get the noise reduction to work right. Tied the Leader has a massive amount of both images.

  • How'd you get past the noise issue? I'm FTT'ing the latest pic and I'm getting bitmap files. What program are you using for Fourier?

  • On a Mac so using the ImageJ java application to do it - I then use the image on the right as a mask for the FTT output and do a threshold after that. It gives you a perfectly black and white image that you can layer multiple versions of the output on top of. It's so clean you don't even need to do the horizontal flip trick.

  • Once you manage to use all of those masks from TTL it would be nice to see a high level walkthrough of how this is done if possible. At least a little more detail of how to create the mask and threshholding.

  • I downloaded ImageJ and have been working with it but I can't get the second image to mask the other image. Also, I don't even know how to adjust gamma on this app. Not to mention know what thresholding is.

  • Sorry yeah I save the result from ImageJ as a PNG and do the rest in photoshop
