I am curious to find out why all of this is significant.
We are solving for a chart, what does that signify?
I assume the game will be revealed at the end of the 7 days, this should indicate a reveal of something?
Also, this is the 7th week of the year. 7 comes back again.

Well, just from looking at what Ive seen in 5 minutes, It looks like there will be 5 main circles around a central circle once all is said in done (from images I've seen) I think the larger circle is the city limits, the wall looked circuluar in the art leak, and then maybe the 5 smaller circles are areas within the city for each faction (5 factions) maybe the gaeme is a fight to see who controls the city?
-
Hmm, I interpreted it as the phases of the sphere as it tracks the rotating planet. Much like the Moon's orbit around earth. BUT, its possible that each circle is something else entirely.
-
Well what if it is tracking the constellation wahtever its name is Or what if the Traveler Orbits.... what if we control the postion of the traveler, I dunno, I wish I could take a sick day today this is amazing stuff. I think Closed my computer the second this started last night, woke up to see all of this going on I AM PUMPED!
-
I think these things are all significant in a grand scheme of things. I also am curious about what happens when we do solve the puzzle/the 7 days are over.
-
Very good observation. He's got a point. These 5 circles could represent each factions domain. From there, they all fight for control of the last city on Earth. We'll see with time sir, but I have a feeling your onto something.

I thought the concept leaks said defend the city?

Edited by Your MOM is MC: 2/12/2013 5:46:56 PMThe city may need to be defended by someone but why would there be 5 different factions? Whoever takes control of the city has to defend it from incoming alien forces. That way it's like a 6-way battle. The 5 factions battling it out for the city, the aliens trying to invade the city and the Traveler helping with general defense for the city. That actually makes 7 lol

Maybe think of them like political parties, rebels, etc. There are always people divided in every society on things since the dawn of time.
-
But it seems unlikely that a single faction could defend a city against 4 other factions and alien forces. Also I think the scope is too limited. There were talks of other planets that are conceptually grounded with our existing solar system. I think in general it will be a co-op game with something similar to a spartan ops idea that drives the competitive multiplayer.
-
I'm Going with the politcal parties Idea - we all will have one common goal - to crush the "bad guys" but within that there could be infighting for power and control. Alliances and back stabbing, i dunno, do we let the bad guys kill our rival factions, or do we help our rival faction kill the enemy, but at a cost.
-
Acceptable, it does seem like there would be some incentive to award a top performing faction weekly/monthly. Seems like that would drive up player investment if you knew it determined things your faction would receive. But at the same time you don't want to alienate factions completely. There will likely be many groups of friends who select different factions for various reasons and you still would want them to play together. For all we know the factions may be skill based and it benefits you to work with other factions members.
-
BAM! I like this idea - in the last city on earth there would be limited resources. These resources may be dolled out based on power and such. I don't think it would be a skill based thing because then the whole idea breaks down, if seven seraphs is all the MLG players no one stands a chance. But if we get to pick out faction how will bungie ensure each faction has equal numbers?
-
No skill like scouts/tanks/medics etc.
-
Oh - that would account for why we need everyone, and people would choose factions based on their style of play. Yea, that sounds more like it, but I hope theres more than just like elf v dwarf b.s. in other games.
-
If it's there I'm sure it will be very loose and primarily cosmetic. Unless people can create multiple characters or freely change factions. They don't want to force people into anything, not good for the life cycle of the game.

Well it is human nature and frankly I think it sounds much more realistic and interesting to have things like a power struggle, disunity, etc among the humans living in the city.
