People seem to be overlooking this "key" element. Is the distance time or is it a physical distance?
EDIT:
Maybe the distance between people counts. Everyone has to work together and all get on at the same time. All around the globe. Bringing together people in drastically different time zones. The more people the further apart would give a better view because of the different angles right?

I've been thinking about this too, but I'm not quite sure how we're supposed to judge distance.

It looks like the dots are becoming more sparse. Based on the quote you gave, maybe we have to have a [b]lot[/b] of people hitting the page within a 5 minute window, which means that the Destiny fansite where they tried to get everyone on at 10PM EST is probably onto something.
