Now, why is this illegal in America?
Is it to do with "abortion is murder" here's a tip, abortion is a reality. It's happening and I don't think it's going to be made illegal any time soon.
Now, acknowledge that abortion is fully legal, why isn't embryotic stem cell research? If it was made legal, all of those aborted fetuses could be given a use. It's taking something which is generally seen as bad and gaining something good out of it. It could save lives.
But nope, it's illegal, so all those aborted fetuses are just being thrown into the bin.

A Google search would show that stem cell research is not illegal in the United States. The ban that was under effect during the Bush administration was overturned by the Obama administration 2009 as an executive order and, quite recently, a court has ruled in favor of the current administration's decision.

There is a difference between someone who accidently gets pregnant and who's life could be in jeopardy or could dramatically change vs intentionally creating a life just to throw it away.
-
As long as abortion is legal, I don't mind embryonic stem cell research being conducted.

To those arguing against abortion allow me to ask 1. If I showed you an acorn, would you tell me that it is a tree? 2. If I showed you a chicken egg, would you tell me that it is a chicken? 3. If I showed you a Caterpillar cocoon, would you tell me that it is a butterfly? 4. If I showed you a human embryo, would you tell me that it is a human? Stem cell research has so much potential, and I agree, it should be legal.
-
Not to mention that it can easily be done without human embryos. However, your argument rings oddly true to the justification of the experiments conducted by the Nazis.

Religion controls the united states. thats the reality of it.

We've found a way to harvest them, differently. A way that won't piss off people.

How about we don't abort fetuses?
-
I wasn't aware it was illegal.

I am confused, it is legal in my state since my state is fairly huge in it or used to be. And didn't new research from a couple months ago make it possible for them to not have to use stem cells from fetuses?
-
i say we hurry up with the research into creating stem cells from blood.

Shame they are aborted.

EMBRYOS ARE PEOPLE TOO

I already know you're a butthurt Brit, but seriously? You make these threads everyday, doesn't it get old after a while?

Edited by Bolt: 2/12/2013 1:27:52 AMhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stem_cell_laws_and_policy_in_the_United_States It's allowed in several states. Fun fact: It's legal to clone a human embryo and implant it in a womb, but only if you harvest it and use it for research before it's born. We have funny fears.

Well, when something bad happens, it's bad. When you benefit from something bad happening, it gets controversial and you'll never be right no matter what you say
