Edited by Joyeuse7: 2/13/2013 3:20:30 AMGuys, the reveal is on sunday, this is stated on the new official Destiny Facebook page. What do you think of the second message? It references natural disasters, specifically volcanoes. could this be literal, symbolic, or the rantings of a rampant AI?
-
So they have finally returned...
-
I think it's God. The "You" and "Your" references are referring God, or some like deity. It would be logical to assume that each day the the ARG are symbolic to creation. However, they are not it order! Time to hear me out... Yesterday's reveal (Day 1) was not the first day's message, but the eighth, as is represented by the eight dots above the passage. But it's also first day's. What?!? If one were to look at the message, it's essentially words of wisdom to a god. Read it through with that mindset and it makes perfect sense. It would be the lesson to remember once all has been created, but also before creation began. Now for the kicker, and I could be completely off base but... If you look to music, there are seven notes to a major scale (this time, with feeling)- Do Re Me Fa So La Te Do. Don't let the eight notes listed fool you, the two Do's are the same note, just an octave higher. The same with Day 1's message- it comes full circle. Not enough yet? Day 2's message could be considered the fifth day of creation, based on the 5 diamonds. It could be talking about Mars, Earth, who knows? But again, the "you" and "your" reference are to a god. And finally... The seventh day, the day of rest, is on Sunday. Which is also when Destiny is revealed. I could be proven wrong with my theory starting tomorrow. Or maybe fifty people have said the same thing already. I just hope it sparks new ideas. But again, reread the messages like they are being told to a god and it makes perfect sense.

Edited by Ronin: 2/13/2013 12:25:28 AMSo it looks like each day's piece is falling into a puzzle that resembles a model of the Ptolemaic System, also known as the geocentric model. I think this (and the ARG as a whole) may be speaking to the story of Destiny. In the Ptolemaic System, the earth is at the center of the universe. We now know that model is incorrect, and that the sun is at the center of our solar system, but for over 1500 years in our history, humans thought of themselves as being the center of the universe. What if, in Destiny, humans on earth once again believe in the geocentric model of the universe? That everything revolves around them? It would in fact signal a step backwards in the scientific understanding of the human race. A fall from the Golden Age. We can look back in history and see a similar time when this occurred. Ancient Rome reached the height of art, science, and human engineering during its reign as the world superpower. But when Rome fell and Europe moved into the Dark Ages, it signaled the cultural devolution of knowledge. In fact, the people living during Medieval times looked at the architecture and culture of Rome and had no knowledge of how it was made, and they lacked the ability to recreate the same marvels that the Romans had. That is why the Renaissance was so significant. Renaissance means rebirth. And it was the age in history when Europeans once again began discovering the skill and culture of the Ancient Romans, catching up, and finally advancing. I'm not saying that Destiny is going to be an analogy of this Middle Ages to Renaissance arc, but what if it is inspired by it? What if there are ruins and vestiges of Man's greatness spread across earth and the galaxy, but the people no longer know how it got there or how to recreate it? What if the ARG is also giving us a hint about gameplay setting with its geocentric model--that Destiny will take place on earth and earth only (at least the first game). Perhaps the human race has lost its space-faring technology and must discover it again. Or they may have the technology of their forebears, but do not fully understand it. This would set up a great story arc of discovery, of finding lost knowledge and attempting to get the human race back on track. A quest to rediscover where we have been as a race, and finally get where we should be going, in order to find our destiny.

Just a quick note: I am 99% sure (not 100% because this is Bungie) Alpha Lupi's avatar is indeed the representation of a force, through the letter F and the vector arrows. My (almost) certainty in this comes from the title of this thread, which is a reference to Newton's Third Law of Motion, "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction". Also, I like the F's font.

Gentlemen. I think I have found a pattern. You see... I think there is going to be some sort of information dump when this countdown is over. Now, I have no evidence to base this off of and there is no reason to reach this assumption, but I'm totally gonna say that I was the first person to call it. And if Bungie has enough time to add avatars for ARGs, they can surely fit in my spinning mustache bomb. :P

Noticing there are the same faint triangles on the image above (look bottom left), as the destiny twitter back ground Maybe important latter dunno

Edited by gestuart88: 2/13/2013 1:08:24 AMJust to show everyone, the walls of the city are circuluar, so this giant ring we are working on seems to be the walls of the city. Thoughts? Edit: Not perfectly circular, but still darn close.

Discuss?

So far, this looks like the placement of where each image is using the Puerto Princesa map.

I don't know about the rest of you, but i think i'm falling towards it.

...soon
-
I'm assuming that all of the uncovered images will align with the Alpha Lupi constellation once pieced together?
-
Well, this is all fun and exciting, but why would you guarantee us a reveal? The holy sh1t factor when I get on my computer and see the waves of information about it would probably have been on par with what I felt when Mass Effect 3 was revealed (too bad it ended up being my greatest disappointment in gaming history). Hoping for some Halo easter eggs/references throughout the games.

"You can be the first to see the reveal of #Destiny right here on Feb. 17 (T-Minus 5 days)." -Destiny Twitter I'm thinking the puzzle will reveal a youtube link to the destiny trailer, perhaps by the QR code?

Bungie's twitter background.

Destiny's twitter background.

So we were guaranteed a reveal just a little bit ago. 5 days. So... don't you all think that kind of lessens the value of an ARG? Or am I just looking at it wrong? :(
-
This is awesome. I wonder how many people it will take to clear the image.

Yeah this is what happens when you don't look at b.net for half a day. Being lost makes everything more fun though :D
