How important is a title system for YOU, in the next iteration of bungie.net? First off, we know that titles are returning in some form at the conclusion of this beta:

So, where’s my Title?
It’s all about you, isn’t it? Please remember that this is a test. The public beta for Bungie.net is a chance for us to work out the kinks and collect some feedback on how we can make things better. That means we’re not finished rolling out all the bells and whistles. In time, we'll be celebrating and decorating the long-standing members of our community. Your legacy will be honored. For now, you are anonymous crash test dummies; so rev those engines and aim for the wall.

In the previous title system from 2007 - 2013, we know that titles are based on a variety of sorts. While we don't have the exact measurements (it's all a secret!) we do know many theories and speculations from Duardo's title bar thread.
The previous formula was based on:
-Daily Activity over longer periods of time
-Joining/Participating in Private Groups
-In-game participation to a degree
-Linking you Xbox Live Gamertag to Bungie.net profile
-Account Age
-Ban/Warning history
-Other hidden factors we don't know about
But now, we have all these new additions to bungie.next that may help in assigning a new title.
-Likes/Dislikes
-Muting others/Getting muted
-Number of Followers (or number of followers to groups that you have created?)
-Private Group/Public Forum Participation
-MUCH MORE DIFFICULT to become "banned"
-New ways to connect to your Bungie.net profile
-More hidden factors we won't ever know about
The point is, whatever the system is, I feel that these new elements will play a key role in the new system. I highly doubt that it will be very similar to the previous system. We all say how radically different this current version of bungie.net is to the previous one. I expect the titles to work the same way.
How many "tiers" of titles should there be?
-Bungie Employee
-Forum Ninja
-Master Forum Ninja
-Member (Member)
-Level above member (Heroic Member)
-Level above that (Legendary Member)
-Level above that...(Mythic Member)
-EVEN MORE ABOVE THAT (Mythic Member+++)
One argument I saw quite a bit was that members who have been here 4/5 years are in the same category of those who have been here 8/9/10+ years. Should there be an extension for those long standing members?
THE BOTTOM LINE/QUESTIONS TO ADDRESS
-How important are titles to you in your bungie.net experience?
-What changes would you like to see made to titles?
-What did you like about the previous system?
-Since it's much more difficult to become banned, should title requirements be more strict on time/activity?
-Should there be a title system at all/or an option to "opt out" of the title system? (just for you Recon)
Now we discuss titles and what changes to expect. The floor is yours community!

It's important
-
They aren't very important to me, but I would like to see the mythics in our community rewarded for sticking around through it all. Those guys have been around forever and I think that's awesome.
-
At this given point in time, I really don't care if they come back. It's easy for me to say however, I've never had a title bar of color. But I find that people should be more focused on being a personality enough to be distinguished from the crowd without the help of that title bar, which some do. P.S. Sorry to the merciless vets who cherish their title bars. Yes, you worked hard for those.

I want my "exalted" back.
Likes/Dislikes.
Back in the old layout you had trolls that used a bunch of alts to report threads. So because of that getting a thread disliked shouldn't hinder me getting a title. Also for the likes you can have someone with dozens of alts liking their main accounts threads. So this is a bad idea for a form title.
-Muting others.
If someone is doing something annoying like spamming post with the max characters. If I mute them that shouldn't hinder me getting a title.
-Number of Followers.
I can be the most active person on the form and still not have as many followers as a person. Who post no where as much as me. Also that can be abused. You can have someone with dozens of alts following their main account.
-Private Group/Public Forum Participation.
Private groups participation shouldn't have anything to do with titles. Hence the name "private." That can be abused as well. I can create a group and have as many alts are needed to keep the group from getting deleted. Then I can use my main account to mass spam it. The only forums that should matter for titles are public.
-MUCH MORE DIFFICULT to become "banned"
-Posting pr0nz links. -Insulting every member on the site. -Mass spamming of post with the character limits.
-
Normally I would love to remove as much bias from posts as possible, but considering the current state of the site, I don't think my views are particularly popular, and popularity is what this new design is all about.

They are terrible ideas.

I support any system which, by the merits of my past time and effort spent here, I am automatically placed at or very near the top of the hierarchy, as was so in the old system. Any deviation from this is unacceptable. :-P
-
I would like to see some more ranks and titles. I don't know what we would call them though.

Mythendary

A super mythic member would awesome
-
Make it happen Bungie.

To be honest, I don't miss titles much at all. You have included some great suggestions that I believe will improve the title system, at least what we know of it. When the titles make a return, provided they have not been altered completely from what we knew, I hope that these suggestions are included (esp. level above Mythic for the people who have been here for the greater part of a decade).
-
Holy shit no I don't want my title to be based off of anything the average user has input in. I can already see people just 'deranking' people. Hell, i'd do it.
-
I miss my Noble. I was so damn close to my Noble Legendary. I'm really looking forward to the new system - especially if it's based on the Destiny universe like: Knight or Baron. (You know, because you play as a 'knight.')
-
I never thought the titles were all that important, but they were fun. Also, I got capped at Exalted Legendary Member. That made me sad. #almostmythic

Probably just a simple thing next to our names like the current titles are for employees and ninjas. I hope they don't go back to Heroic, Legendary and Mythic. - I don't think titles are vital to our forum experience, but they do offer incentives for some to not be a jerk. But we need other ways to give waiting to our account that's not just a nice hat. - Not many changes really. Just make the titles simple. Like I was saying just a small thing next to our username like the current titles are. - It was a nice feature to the site. It should you who's been around for awhile and has kept within the rules. The system was great at first but slowly deteriorate due to the large traffic of the site and it just becoming outdated in itself. - It's hard basing someones titles on time. Time doesn't really mean much, it's all about activity. They need to do some significant tweaking in terms of the formula. I have no idea about this sort of thing, so I'll leave it to the professionals. - I think there should be some sort of title system or some sort of system that adds visible value to your account. I couldn't careless if I had a title, but I know for some out there it's a major bonus for them and it keeps them active. So I think titles are a good thing. Why not,? There's nothing wrong with having an option to 'opt out'. It would satisfy both parties. I don't really know what to expect, but the webteam would have learned from the past title system and I think they know what they have to do for this one.
-
My prediction is they will have something to do with Destiny. Or at least things you do in game will have an impact on your B.net account.
-
I'd hate if they played down titles or made them less prominent, they were a big part of this community and an easy way to identify people. Just by looking at any given persons title bar I can tell like 2-3 things about them.
-
I was thinking that they might just have badges or stickers instead with a prefix. That's what 'decoration' sounds like to me anyway.
-
Can we haz flaming titles? :D
-
How is it more difficult to be banned now?
-
To be honest, I don't care any more. This overhaul has largely put me off coming here much.
-
It's really not at all important to be but I fully understand how it could be important to other people.
