Apparently they're going to replace it:
Most of you were rightfully incredulous over the Los Angeles Police Department's shooting of two innocent women following a case of mistaken truck identity during their search for alleged killer ex-cop Christopher Dorner. How did the cops mistake the women's blue Toyota Tacoma for Dorner's gray Nissan Titan? Why did they shoot first and ask questions later? Why did they unload dozens of rounds into the truck?
Well, now the LAPD says they want to make it up to Margie Carranza, 47, and her mother, Emma Hernandez, 71, who were out delivering newspapers the morning they were shot by police. The cops will get the women a new pickup truck, reports the Los Angeles Times. How nice!
During the incident, Hernandez was shot twice in the back, and Carranza received injuries from some broken glass, the newspaper reported. Hernandez has since been released from the hospital. An LAPD police commander met with the two of them Saturday, and Police Chief Charlie Beck apologized on behalf of the department. From the Times:
Beck has called the incident "a tragic misinterpretation" by officers working under "incredible tension" hours after Dorner allegedly shot three police officers, one fatally.
And as an added bonus, Carranza and Hernandez will getting a new truck apparently paid for by donors. The story doesn't say what kind of truck it will be. Something with bulletproof glass this time, perhaps?
Meanwhile, Dorner remains on the loose, and he has a growing fanbase on the Internet.
Dorner's gray Titan was found in Big Bear with weapons inside after he apparently torched it. Maybe this means the LAPD will stop shooting at random people in trucks now.
Some of the commenters brought up the fact that accepting the new truck might make it more difficult or even impossible for them to sue.
What do you think of this? Would you accept the truck if it meant you couldn't sue? Would you accept the truck and then try to sue anyways?

Will the LAPD also be paying for her hospital bills? If not i'd sue, screw the truck.
