What's with all the necrobumped religious posts? Seriously who's doing this?
-
I'm considered religious for being an atheist am I also a pro-athlete for not playing football?
-
Atheism is the lack of religion. It's a religion like abstinence is a sex position.
-
It is a faith-based belief, but not really a religion.
-
Some push their ideas on people like it is one. Sure I'll stop believing in a Flying Spaghetti Monster when you realize South Park was making fun of you in that episode... This doesn't apply to everyone.
-
It's the lack of religion. Atheism isn't a religion.
-
Not a religion to be technical but they have faith in nothing... And believe they are right.
-
Yes. Faith in non-existence is still faith. Religion is having faith. Whether is faith in scientists telling you about quarks and gluons that you can't see, or faith in a priest telling you about Jesus and angels, its still faith in someone being correct about something you can't personally see. Atheists are just hypocrites who say their holy men are better than ours. And they will burn in hell for all eternity for that.
-
Not a religion
-
-
I'd say so.
-
Not a religion, but it is a belief system. I would probably call it more of a life choice depending how you came into atheism.
-
i don't see what there is to 'debate' about; the answer is no.
-
-
No. You would have to say not believing in communism is a religion, or not believing in unicorns is a religion. Utterly ridicules. All religions require some element of faith, aka belief without good evidence.
-
They Believe nothing's there, it's a belief so yea.
-
Ironically, it takes more faith to not believe.
-
It can be in a sense. Especially when parents willingly try to indoctrinate their kids from an early age to be atheists. I would never tell my kid that there is no god even though I am an atheist myself. I would raise them in a secular house and let them make up their own mind.
-
No, because atheism is normally defined as a lack of spiritual beliefs, or lack of a belief in a god. So it is lacking all of the elements of a religion.
-
Yes. They believe in themselves as gods over their own lives.
-
Yes, because you have faith in the fact that there is no God.
-
It is recognized as the equivalent of a religion in civilized countries to guarantee atheists rights, but that is the extent of it. In all actuality, it is simply the non-belief in a god (and you wouldn't say not collecting stamps is a hobby).
-
Oxford dictionary: disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods Well, that settles that.
-
If someone is religious because they don't believe in God, then someone who has sex with a female is a homosexual
-
So is not believing in the Easter Bunny also a religion?
-
The more important question is: "why to -blam!- do theist want to make it a religion?" Seriously what's the twisted logic behind this?
