Durango, the codename for the next Xbox, will support wake on voice, natural language controls, and speech-to-text. The improved capabilities mean that Xbox users will be able to walk into a room and simply say "Xbox on" to wake up the new Xbox...
...Microsoft is also investigating scenarios where a Kinect sensor will detect individuals in a room and suggest appropriate multiplayer games after a user queries the Xbox using voice. The support will include natural language detection, similar to Apple's Siri service, that will let users ask things like "what are my friends playing" to receive a friends list...
...Users will also be able to automatically resume video content where it left off simply by asking the new Xbox to play a particular movie. With speech-to-text built-in, it's likely that Microsoft will utilize this support to type out messages using the new Xbox.
Pretty cool stuff. If the next Xbox is integrated more with MS's software and services, having a Siri for your living room could become a reality: checking maps and weather, setting reminders, sending stuff to your (Windows) phone, etc.

I want multiple AI voices, like Guilty Spark, HAL9000...

The best part of this will be the speed at which I can write insulting Xbox messages.

Edited by Tartan 118: 2/7/2013 4:54:10 PMMy main hope is that KineXbox will be able to operate on a much smaller scale; I have a maximum of 1.5 cube metres for my gaming space, not some gigantic hipster flat where everything's white and made my Microsoft.

This makes much more sense than building the entire Kinect periphal into Durango. The sensor would suffer greatly if you weren't able to reposition it (unless Kinect 2.0 is super-amazing). But this I like.

Lol, the "source" is terrible

That would be cool. Hopefully it can be incorporated into games as well. These are things that can individualize them as a console vs. PC and Sony.
