If you're below the poverty line, then Obamacare is free. If you are an average American family of four, you'll most likely pay $4,000 a year, which is actually cheaper than the average amount you spend on health care without Obamacare.
CNS news is unreliable. Don't be idiots.

And again you get punished for being successful in this country. Such a joke.
-
Im glad i get to pay for someone elses hospital bill!
-
The NHS works in the UK and I believe Canada has a similar system. I don't see why it won't work in the US.
-
itt: People who are all pseudo economists and pseudo medical professionals that know what they're saying, lol. The way I see it, I'll be paying much less than I am now, so I should be able to survive. Does it take into account people who are going to be living in a one person family?

Healthcare is a very complicated issue, with many elements contributing to its inefficiencies. We need tort reform. Medical malpractice is a HUGE problem. Pathetic, suit-happy people and their legal buddies raise malpractice insurance rates and create a need for doctors to practice unnecessary defensive medicine, which is costly . . . very costly. Early detection for cancers may be a waste as well, as evidence is starting to show that many cases of cancer go away on their own. Health benefits are not taxed like income is. Let's say you get $1000 in dollars. You would pay a percentage of that in taxes, and thus be left with less than $1000 to spend on healthcare. However, if your employer offered you $1k in health benefits, it would all go to health benefits. The elderly are a problem. They consume the most healthcare, and more than they paid in as working people. And a bunch of other problems.

Edited by BrenMan 94: 2/1/2013 11:16:17 PMMy dad's medical spending account got cut in half ($5,000 to $2,500) and his tax withholding went up $100 the first paycheck of the year. So, his taxes are now sucking an extra $200/month or $2,400 a year and he only has half of what he had in the past withheld for medical expenses. I am a part of a family of four and in total our annual income is around $80K.

There is talk of putting a bill out there to bring the public option too (Medicare for all).
-
I just love the idea of paying for crackhead suzy's 17 abortions and hippie john's medical marijuana.
-
Why not just adopt the UK system and reduce spendings on other areas of government? Problem solved. Oh wait socialists are bad.
-
lol butthurt Republicans. If this was called Romneycare, aka in MA, you would all be jumping over it. My main criticism of Obamacare is that it needs to become a real universal health care system, atm it is half way there, but still better than the old system.
-
And supposedly Obamacare would help to provide medical insurance to transgender people who are transitioning, so I am all for it.
-
Implying cheaper healthcare is somehow important and negates the horrible economics of obamacare.
-
After reading a lot of the replies, I have come to a conclusion. You're all idiots. These topics should have stayed banned because most of it is just people talking out of their asses.
-
Yep. This is fair. Rich people can most likely already afford the medical care, I'm sure they wouldnt mind a discount.
-
Canada got it right. We should just take a peek across the border.

Edited by A Good Troll: 2/1/2013 8:04:44 PMSo let me ask you this OP. The upper middle and wealthy class by far have an overwhelming access to health insurance through their work. So the only ones who are going to have use Obamacare are those who are going to be lower income, and therefore receive highly subsidized premiums. So who pays for all those subsidies?
-
Nope. I read somewhere that for the average family of four it will cost $20,000 a year for healthcare by 2016 thanks to Obamacare. People dont realize every time the government gets involved, it increases prices and decreases quality. Its so damn simple to understand.

Edited by HurtfulTurkey: 2/1/2013 6:59:00 PMI haven't done much research beyond opinions from medical professionals (which are remarkably bleak); do you have any succinct information about the Act, like an article that accurately analyzes the changes and costs?
-
yes but employers are cutting back hours on employees so that they do not need to help pay for it so wother way we're screwed, at least here in michigan
-
But doesn't ObamaCare tax people who don't have health care?
-
You're forgetting that everybody will pay more, as socialist healthcare leads to more deaths & worse care. That's how the market is and that's how it always will be, just look at the UK's cancer rate etc. Socialist/communist healthcare is disgusting.
-
If you're below the poverty line, then Obamacare is free.
Free? Then whos paying for it?
-
Obama is awesome. <3

What is this about? http://dailycaller.com/2013/02/01/irs-cheapest-obamacare-plan-will-be-20000-per-family/

Also, factor in the quality of healthcare.

Thanks for clearing that up. We need more like you to fight stupidity.
