Hey, if you don't like talking or reading about controversial topics go ahead and exit out and save you the time, but this is my only thread this way so no need to hide me. Have a great day
After saying that I move on to what I mean by "pointless arguments". Ill tackle the two most discussed topics. Religion and Politics. I can guarantee you a plethora of us who see a thread with a title opposing your opinion on a subject that you go in ready to argue and prove your point. Now let me use my own example. I'm Catholic, but I question my faith. Everyone generalizes each other when it comes to the whole theist v atheist argument, and more so individual religions. Anyway moving on. If your an atheist I guarantee you at this point some little piece of you already dislikes me just for my preference, as common practice I'm sure one of you will try and prove to me that religion is fake or their is no prove of a god or after life. Now here's where my point comes in. I genuinely don't care, you can huff and puff and pull science out of here and science out of there, but I don't care and many others feel the same. To defend atheists, the same can be said, I can through scripture and miracles and all this stuff and the same things occurs, no one cares. The argument even at its birth, is pointless. Theists can be persuaded because they live on the basis of believing in something no one knows is real or not, and atheists live in a life of trying to convince us that their is no god or anything. Both sides of the argument are totally innocent, because that's what we believe, and as much as we force our opinions down the opposers throat, nothing changes.
The exact same thing goes for politics. So by now I hope you guys understand what I'm saying. I could go on forever on this but I doubt many of you have the attention span to even read what I've written already. And notice how I defended those I disagree with? That's called being an open minded person.
Now, do you have the right to express your opinion? 100% yes, but in the right context. You can come up to me and tell me how god isn't real or how my political party is made up of a bunch of idiots, but the reverse can be said for me. But then there's the point where you look at it and understand that this person really is committed to their beliefs and can't be dissuaded, and leave it at that. No need to keep forcing it on someone. Not only that, respect the persons opinion.
I probably said something in their that makes me sound like an idiot, and I say sorry in advance. Also just to wrap things up, for those who believe in the Big Bang theory, if the universe can come from nothing why can't god, why can't I believe in something I don't have proof of like Demoritus composed the idea of atoms with no proof of their existence. Not trying to convert anyone, just showing both sides of the argument.
Thanks for reading, if you read anything at all. Have a great day :)

People's opinions and stances have been shifted due to participation in debates on this site, including my own, so I feel that your accusation of "no progress" isn't very true.
