So, Crysis 3 releases on the 19th of February for North Americans and today marks the release of their BETA for the game. It has two game modes, Crashsite which resembles a King of the Hill gametype, and Hunter which is essentially Flood/Infection.
Free to download and check out, so I suggest people give it a whirl. Some of their additions are pretty interesting and could make interesting additions to other games. I love the map specific kill streaks reliant on a kill-confirmed method of picking up dog tags (which isn't new to the franchise but will be to new players) and their new personal killcams at the end of matches highlighting your own personal best kills.
Its not for everyone, but I enjoy the Crysis multiplayer suite. Its a refreshing, different gameplay experience than the other games currently rocking the multiplayer world. Plus, there are just some cool ideas present (hell yes to parkour and sliding in FPS games!) that would make excellent additions to other franchises or new IP's.

Well for one, most of the people who play the demo are idiots, I get around fifteen kills a game now, simply because I'm patient, sit at the highest spot, wait for an enemy to show up, then jump down and murder them with the feline. I used to use the sniper rifle class, but now that I have custom classes and the second assault rifle you get (and the feline carbine), I'm doing quite well. I like how sprint no longer sucks up your energy, but active camo and armor should be from the same bar, to prevent the stupidity currently on. Probably won't pick up the final product, unless maybe later when the price goes down since I like the Crysis series campaigns.
-
THough i have to say this Controls on PC are shit
-
It's... nice but I won't be picking up the final product. I like the personal highlight reel, I like the Bow but eh. I just don't like how it handles. There's no real sense of competition, I find hunter mode grossly unbalanced, the Killstreaks help but when every player has active camo and I have no chance of really seeing them aside from a pretty transparent outline... It gets frustrating.
-
I've really enjoyed it. I recently unlocked the bow, and it's easily my favorite way of playing the game. The auto maximum armor needs to be reevaluated. It can make stealth kills with the bow a burden rather than an enjoyable experience. It shouldn't prove to be that much of a problem when I get good enough to put two arrows into someone, but at the moment I'm having a lot of trouble killing people with the bow due to auto maximum armor.

I think I'm going to pick up Crysis 2 and read up on Crysis 1 before I play the 3rd one. But the gameplay looks pretty cool.

Here's my take after playing 20+ games in the new Crysis 3 Beta: I'm not a fan of it. It plays like Halo and CoD got together and had a retarded child... I agree with OP on 90% of his points of discussion/opinion. I agree that it is a Beta, so there is work to be done still, but if this is the way it's going to be polished out, I'm not sure that I'll pick up the finished product. The controls are... hesitant. It seems like there's an inordinate hesitation between a trigger pull/button press. The armor system is backwards from the previous two Crysis games. And finally, I agree with the criticism on the new Stealth management system. Basically, everything i liked about Crysis 2 had been changed/removed in the Crysis 3 Beta, and the game is worse for it.
-
I'm still thinking about it. They did base it off the CoD 4 formula, and games like that tend to get boring over time. And it's just not as good on consoles . . . I may pick it up after release if I hear good things about it. OT: Beta is fun.
-
I played it a little. Very nice. Looking forward to the game itself.
-
At the base level it's a very fast CoD, it doesn't do anything new but it does it all very well. It's the dumb twitch shooter that I'd be happy to play if that's what I was looking for. I expect it to die quickly on consoles because an average gamepad player won't be able to get anything out of it that CoD/Halo doesn't already give them. Plus it runs and looks like shit on Xbox. Highlight reels were the real feature that I took away from the beta. Holy shit every arena FPS game needs those.
-
Well glad to know my PC is a good gaming PC It can handle 10 games of Crash Site on Very high graphics!
-
I really really hope Crysis 3's multiplayer is a step up from Crysis 2's. That mulitplayer was fun but the population died so fast I barely even got to play the dlc for it lol
