What is your opinion on homeschooling?
I remember homeschooling used to be a super controversial subject but it seems like the idea of homeschooling has started to become more mainstream with more and more parents starting to homeschool their kids.
I myself had been homeschooled from Kindergarten through 12th grade; my brother and sister are being homeschooled as well. One thing a lot of people say is that homeschoolers have no friends or social life. That's a lie if I ever heard one. I've got tons of friends and go over to their houses regularly to hang out and play videogames. I've met them through church, meeting friends of friends, work and by doing extracurricular activities.
Currently, I'm enrolled at my local college; I'm on my third semester getting A's and B's. At first there was a small shock as I had to get used to the way college worked. I no longer got to lounge around doing my schoolwork in bed while watching youtube all day but I started to get used to it and I'm doing pretty good so far.
So what is your view on homeschooling; are you for it, against it, on the fence about it?
I'd like to hear what the Flood thinks.

It's basically child abuse.

Whatever floats their boat.

I see nothing wrong with it.

I was homeschooled from 6th grade onward. I feel like it's important for kids to get social interaction early on so they don't turn out socially incompetent. I don't mind kids being homeschooled for the later years of their schooling because that's when quality of education matters more and homeschooling definitely gives parents the ability to get their kids ahead of the average student their age.

I was homeschooled because all the schools in my area have piss pore quality. I was involved in allot of groups with other homeschoolers which gave a good social advantage and top tier education. I am really glad I was homeschooled since I got to go to college when I was 15 and by the time I would be graduating from highschool I was graduating with my associates.

If I can help it I would homeschool my children until middle school as I could teach them at a much faster rate than a teacher who has to accommodate thirty kids. With special attention children can learn much quicker than the standards allow for typically.

Although I think homeschooled kids probably receive a better education, I feel that public schooling better prepares someone for the real world. You're basically required to be somewhat social, and you're around all kinds of people - not just ones you like. Dealing with idiots is a huge part of working/growing up.

It's way harder than normal schooling.. For example instead of doing a fill in the blank in normal school you would be tasked to write a 5 paragraph essay.

I think it's better to socialise and make friends in regular school.

I won't be homeschooling my kids, but I don't have anything against those who do.
