"People these days"

Whenever I hear about things like the Tampon girl, or the more recent Dog girl, I hear people say things like: "this generation is so messed up," or "what is the world coming to?" But is anything really changing? Are these things actually increasing in occurrence, or are we just hearing about them more and more because of the rise of social media and the internet?

  • I think a mix of both. We certainly hear about it more because we have the capability to know what's going on everywhere all at once. But at the same time the internet provides an audience some of these people have to know they're achieving by doing what they do. Also, the internet provides a method for like-minded weirdos to get together and plan out whatever it is that they plan on doing, whilst giving them a safe haven and a sort of confirmation bias room where they only build off of one another.
