Edited by Nerd Boi: 1/26/2013 12:26:09 PMI've spent the last year doing coastal research. I'm not sure we had a single bit of equipment that wasn't held together with liberal amounts of cable ties and duct tape. EDIT: Well to be strictly accurate it was electical tape, but same basic principle.

Edited by Skittles x: 1/26/2013 11:26:29 AMI had a leak in the fuel tank of my '88 chevy stepside... I, in my driveway with zero experience in the middle of a frigid Wisconsin February, dropped the tank and replaced it myself since I could not afford to have a shop do it. It all went surprisingly smoothly until I got to the part where I had to attach the vapor return line to the fuel nozzle whilst simultaneously attaching the fuel hose (referring to the tube going from the fuel cap to the gas tank) to it's terminal. I tried... for hours... then it began getting dark. It was cold laying in the snow. I didn't care anymore so I cut the vapor return line and attached the fuel hose on its own. I then patched the vapor line using a spent 12-gauge shotgun shell with the ends cut off (which had an inner diameter that fit perfectly over the hose) as a coupler and secured it all with.... duct tape.
