I've seen many topical treatments that are supposed to get rid of and prevent acne. I have noticed that some of these treatments are conflicting. Some people tell you to put moisturizer with aloe on your face, and some people tell you to use salicylic acid, which dries out the acne.
So what is the correct treatment?

Edited by fanousontheloose: 1/25/2013 10:41:06 PMThe most effective way to treat acne is with drugs. I had bad acne for awhile and I thought I would just outgrow it like most people do but when you're 18 and still getting a lot of acne it doesnt look like youll outgrow it. I went to a determatologist and she said that I had very severe acne and that topical stuff wouldn't do anything for me whatsoever. She prescribed me accutane which ive been on for about 4/5 months now and by the end of 2 weeks I was already seeing results and havent had new acne since. I'm still on the medication and it seems to be plateauing so i think my treatment will be over soon, but Im now content with my body now, no more feeling awkward. They said that accutane will make you break out really badly and then it will correct itself, but in my case my acne couldn't get worse so it just started clearing up. I now have very mild acne which which will be reduced to very tiny scars after a couple more months of the medication. If you're struggling with your acne and nothing seems to work for you, go get accutane from a determatologist and let it work its wonders.
