In my limited time with the new site, I've noticed many threads (or do we call them topics now) tagged as #offtopic are clearly not off-topic. Bungie, the new website, usernames, Destiny, and user feedback are all clearly not off-topic and totally relevant to the purposes of Bungie.net.
This is somewhat revealing of the inherent flaws of a pure tag system over a mmulti-forum board system. Threads seem generally more organized in categorized forum boards than in tagging systems. Now the topics are harder to sort through than before. Users on this site (as well as sites almost anywhere on the internet) have proven to be largely inaccurate and inconsistent at appropriate tagging and other self regulation/organization. As a result, some topics appear where they shouldn't and others not where they should. While I think tagging certainly has a very well deserved place, I'm not so sure it is a proper substitute for multiple forum boards. Administrators and ninjas can only correct so much, especially when the thread authors themselves have so much control over tagging.
I'd suggest bringing back a very condensed number of forum boards. For example, one for games, one for community, and one for off-topic subjects. That would just be three, but that might be enough.
What do you think?

I can get behind this idea. Games, Community, Flood. With tags spread across all boards.
