• So far, he has been terrible deliverance, and great promises. Promises get him elected, and his execution (or lack thereof) of his promises gets him hated. A few of his policies have been utter bullshit, and his terrible handling of the debt crisis and fiscal cliff are more than enough to lose ANY other president the job. However, the fact that Romney's waitress grabbed a video camera to record his dinner, and comments guaranteed Obama's win. His social policies that allow for the unsuccessful to leach off of successful are bullshit. The health care thing is going to suck for me, since I will most likely lose my physical therapy and my cousin (who is anorexic and OCD) will only grow worse and worse as the insurance delays care until the money is available. All this means to me is that he is going to raise my parent's taxes, force us to move to a different home, probably close my grade school and parish, and eventually raise my college tuition while forcing the quality of education down. Then, when I finally get out to life and he is long gone, I will be stuck paying for other people's failures while being punished for my success.

He's a nice guy, but he's quite a narcissist. When you have the job of President of just about anything you should also make sure things don't get under your skin so easy.

          • He's a politician, which means he's a bastard as a matter of course. The question isn't whether he's good or bad, the question is how bad is he, and how does his badness compare to the badness of other politicians.

            • Bad. He's horrible at managing economics. At least Romney would have gotten that issue settled which is more important than the social policies he never delivers.

              • DISCLAIMER: I'm from GB, so my knowledge of the American political system is poor so any opinion I do have is based on what I've observed rather than being apart of, which could make my opinion different from others if I went into a lot of details. This is also my opinion, not the solid be all end all. You're entitled to your own opinion, which I'm not bothered about at all, although reasoning behind it does spark some interest. Disclaimer over, I guess the first thing I will say is this: as long as America is working, the world's economics will continue to operate. If America stopped operating from an economic standpoint, most of the world would seize to work in terms of trade and a knock-on effect in politics. This is why I paid a fair amount of attention to the elections, to see the impact on the rest of us. As far as I could see though, some of the policies Romney was planning to make I didn't agree with, such as digging an AONB with the slight chance of finding oil which could be a gold mine or a massive economic blow. I also see that some of you don't agree with Obama trying to introduce a Nation Health Service. Coming for GB where the NHS is such a big part of our lives, it's quite difficult to understand why you wouldn't want one as it is very useful for when very expensive and complex operations are needed, however different countries and cultures would obviously have different views and it does mean that taxes have to rise to pay for it. Whether you believe that it would be worth it or not is up to you. Although, you have to look at who is more likely to deliver their policies that they propose, something that only time can tell as well as if we risk letting the person in in the first place. I would just like to point out that Romney probably lost because he shot himself in the foot before he even began. Statements like "I enjoy firing people", whatever the context, is not something you want to say if you are trying to appeal to the average worker. However, I am interested to know why people still vote for Obama despite disliking his policies. Is this because it is "the lesser evil" scenario or is there something I'm missing. Here in GB, we have 3 main parties and many others. Not sure if this gives us more variety or something, but people tend to stick to the parties which they believe in the policies rather than any other reason. Some insight would be appreciated.

                • I think Obama has been doing well with what he has to work with. He inherited a huge national debt with out of control government spending, an unpopular war in the middle east, the worst economical situation since the great depression, and a lot of republicans in the senate that are trying to make him look bad. All in all, he's made his mistakes, but the thing is he often times recognizes them, and then will do what he needs to. I very much believe he has the nations best interests in mind, and that he does in fact have a connection with the middle class of the U.S. I also think he understands the difficulties of struggling families and that "government handouts" aren't always abused like everyone thinks they are. I normally watch the government sponsored programs when the actually run congressional meetings and senate meetings on T.V. and it's pretty crazy to see how childish politicians are. All parties are guilty of being extremely petty and childish, but with Obama as president it seems to be more amplified. I will never blame the president for the nations problems. It's impossible for one person to solve matters on the scale of what people want done instantly. I blame congress and the senate for the nations problems. It doesn't matter what party they belong to, they all act like toddlers fighting over a stupid toy. They bicker, they name call, and they fear monger to get what they want and to complete tasks that are on their own personal agendas. There are a few good senators and congressmen/women, but it's absurd to how crazy those people can be. TL;DR Obama does fine, congress and senate suck monkey nutz.

He hasn't really done much except what? A crappy healthcare bill? End the war in Iraq? Pretty big letdown but I'm glad we're through with neocons for the time being. edit: not to say he's a bad president, just that it seems nothing major has happened and he really will be remembered for being black The real problem is just congress and our political proccess in genera is brokenl.

                      • Mediocre, should of implemented single payer universal healthcare, would down the war in Afghanistan, downsized the military, addressed income inequality, and regulated the Financial System more thoroughly.

                      • Obviously I was disappointed in his first term as he didn't live up to be the liberal he came off as. He is very moderate and I really would prefer a more progressive in office. Although I voted and support him heavily again for his second term because even though he is rather conservative when it comes down to it, he is a great leader, intelligent, has great intentions and is only pushing this country a little bit more to the left despite his rather moderate approach sometimes.
