Do you believe in a god? Or gods? If so, why? Why do you believe in something with no evidence of existing?
IMO, I don't think gods exist. The whole idea is ridiculous to me that there's some powerful deity watching us.
Hey, why does God allow little kids in Africa to starve? Answer plz.
Post your reasons on why you think God does or does not exist. Keep this respectful I guess.

I don't have any reason to. Most people only want to believe so they can have some comfort, others believe it out of what I assume is them becoming self-deluded. So from what I can tell it boils down to this. Do you prefer evidence over comfort? If yes, then most likely you're an atheist, agnostic, agnostic-atheist, and all the other semantic bullshit that gets lobbed into making up terms to describe yourself. If no, then most likely you're one of the thousands of sects in many religions. If someone claims to prefer evidence over comfort and is still religious, then as I said before, I'd consider them self-deluded. This doesn't cover every single piece of the topic, but I think it is close enough at this current moment.

Edited by Entraps: 1/11/2013 9:57:28 AMYes, He does exist. I believe so with almost 100% certainty. I am Roman Catholic. BTW, to anyone that calls religion a delusion, a fairy-tale, illogical, or anything of such nature, is being extremely offensive to all religious people. Keep that insulting rubbish to yourselves, and actually try to show a little respect to the theists on these forums.

I personally don't.

I don't believe in God/Gods, as it just seems strange. I'm not entirely ruling it out, as there is no proof that any God exists or not, but IMO science answers everything as best it can, and changes it when it's proven to be wrong. I prefer that then something that takes a book/scripture to be truth, without any questioning or research. Same as the strange parts of Quantum science. Until they can be proven (and make a bit more sense) I'll take it as truth, but for now it will remain a theory.

Well I can't really now if there is a god so there is no reason I should believe in one. In short: No.
-
No, I do not. This explains most of my thinking
"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?" - Epicurus
Also, as an atheist, I'm only one degree more of an atheist than a Christian, Jew, or Muslim. There's hundreds of gods they don't believe in. There's only one more that I don't believe in.

Nope.

Yes, I do.

Why was this hidden? And no, I do not.

If you mean the Judeo-Christian god, no. I do not think such a being exists. My reasoning, with all due respect for our more theistic Floodians, is that there were people outside of the Mesopotamian area that this religion started in. They are left out of the Bible, which is the sole source of this god's authority. What happens to them? Automatically sentenced to hell for the crime of being born in India or Asia while some goat herders in Mesopotamia and Asia Minor worked out who to sacrifice their goats to? Nope, not buying it. I think that there possibly could be a consciousness above ours. At least I haven't ruled that out. Maybe aware of me in the way I am aware of an individual neuron firing in my brain. Who knows? But as far as the religious depictions of God thus far demonstrated in the world, I do not believe in any of them.

I do believe God exists.
-
I don't believe he exists, and if he does exist I don't believe he is worthy of worship.
-
Yep. Also I don't plan on defending myself online. You cant have a reasonable objective discussion on an online forum.
-
No, I do not believe there is any god, nor do I believe there is any reason to do so.

There has never been even a single shred of verifiable evidence in support of the notion that deities exist in the entirety of Human history. Furthermore, no rational and/or logically-consistent arguments exist in favor of this concept either. And lastly, science and reason provide us much better explanations for the questions that religion attempts to answer, and they do so using evidence and proper reasoning. So while it is not possible to unequivocally state that deities do not exist, it is a reasonable assumption to work under given all of the available data.

Yes. John 3:16God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. 17God sent his Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but to save the world. 18Those who believe in him won't be condemned. But those who don't believe are already condemned because they don't believe in God's only Son. 19This is why people are condemned: The light came into the world. Yet, people loved the dark rather than the light because their actions were evil. 20People who do what is wrong hate the light and don't come to the light. They don't want their actions to be exposed. 21But people who do what is true come to the light so that the things they do for God may be clearly seen. I declare he exists, and further more He who exists declares his existence. I know because he showed me, and all can know this. Matthew 17:20He told them, "Because you have so little faith. I can guarantee this truth: If your faith is the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."?of demon[ goes away only by prayer and fasting.">] Forever praise Lord Jesus Christ, The Father, The Holy Spirit, the one and only true Lord Almighty God, and bless all forever in his holy name :) Yes, Hallelujah! Praise the Lord Almighty God who is truly glorious and righteous all in all forever!!!

Nope.

lol OP got hidden

inb4lock -- oh wait...B.next. Never mind. No, I strongly dislike any religion. That's the nicest way I can put it without going ape shit on the topic it's self.
-
Nope. Besides the lack of evidence, there's too much convenient emotional pleasing (Afterlife, always being watched over, etc) and anthropocentrism which makes me more than a bit suspicious of God's true origins.

Do I believe in a god?
