I found out why I hate dubstep.

Today, while trying to explain to my sister what dubstep is (She's apparently been living under a rock) , I found the core issue with Dubstep.
Dubstep is like trying to take two decent looking pictures, and pasting them together, and then scribbling nonsense all over it.
I listened to a few songs, and it seems like each one is pretty good, and then it just goes apeshit and loses any form of focus or pacing...
Thus, a more simplistic version of dubstep would be better.

straight up Dubstep does kinda suck now. there's only so much you can do within the definition of the genre. there are still some killer artists but i've moved on to stuff like [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FTUjj9oALI]Heyoka[/url], [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CElNvtuXT5g]Spoonbill[/url], and [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNFt8J3vZgw]Mr. Bill[/url] to name a few.

I used to be apathetic, then I hated it, now I like it. I was bandwagoning before, see; but for pure sensory bombardment, dubstep is pretty awesome.

I just generally don't like dubstep. Am I ignorant of probably the vast majority of respected dubstep artists? Absolutely, but my experiences so far have not been very encouraging to continue listening to a genre I just overwhelmingly don't enjoy.

1 ReplyThe reason that you hate Dubstep is because you listen to the really generic mainstream crap like Skrillex. Listen to actual Dubstep and you may like some of it. I will link a mix of some really great Dubstep songs.

Drops are the whole core of dubstep and some other EDM genres.

the bass gets hectic on most of what you'll hear. but like everything, you've just got to find the right whatevers i can't enjoy it because most electronic music makes me nervous ;o;

1 ReplySaying you don't like dubstep because of drops is a bit like saying you don't like rock because of guitar solos. A lot (perhaps even most) of dubstep doesn't go "apeshit" at all and is a lot more mellow.

You could try something that isn't dubstep (or at least not obnoxious brostep). Psy trance for example.

One of the only dubstep songs I actually like. It just fit so well with the game, so that probably helps.

Some of it's pretty good and some falls flat, just got to find the right artist.

1 Replytry drum and bass, it has the potential to be very mellow and still give you a 'wub wub' sound. i can recommend a few if you would like.
