OK, so recently I've been seeing a lot of religion posts. While there is nothing wrong with talking about religion in a proper manner, it is threads like this http://www.bungie.net/en-US/View/community/Forum/Post?id=44232669 that really bug me.
If this was titled something like 'Do we still need religion in the modern world' or 'What place should religion have in our modern society' then that would be fine. Instead we have ignorant people (and I call them this based on what they have said, not just as an insult) saying that religion has no place in the world. While this might be true for them it is not true for everyone.
For many people religion and science can co exist. Obviously there are the many examples of the greatest minds in scientific history who were religious, but also for many people religion tells people how to live (morality etc.) whereas science explains how they live and how the world works. To use Christianity as an example: not everyone reads the Bible literally.
I personally am not religious, in fact, next year I'm going to study physics at university. However, I often get more annoyed with the many more (in my experience) atheists than religious people who try to force their views onto others. What annoys me in particular about many of these people is the hypocrisy that often arises in their arguments. By this I mean when an atheist will accuse a religious person of blindly following religion with no evidence when often they are blindly following science with no understanding of the evidence put forward in support. How can you argue for something you don't understand?
Essentially, what I'm getting at is why does everyone need to force their views on other people. Can't we just let them get on with their lives!

Amazing internet fight over religion we got here.
#religionisbad
Are you trolling? It sounds like you are defending everyone's beliefs and stuff and then this? I am confuse.

TL;DR When everyone agrees with each other.
-
Until opinion dies out.
-
People stop forcing their views on others usually when they become happy with their own. Although in rare cases boredom/repetition of the same pointless argument causes them to give up. I'm not religious but I personally think the world does need religion, despite what many rabid atheists think there is a lot of good done by religion even if that good is simply making people feel good inside. That being said, there is a lot of ignorance caused by religion and tackling that without screaming LOL CHRISTIAN RETARD every time they talk is key to changing that.
-
It's because people have this "team mentality" and their way is right and every one who disagrees is against them. Religion is a gray area, there is no right or wrong, it's just personal preference.
-
When? As soon as every religious person keeps their religion to themselves and stops thinking their way of life is the only "right" way, and everyone else is wrong.

When we die

Until we are aaaaallllll dead. :)

Lol, people won't ever stop. Get used to it.

When bungie takes the wheel and steers this site in a good -blam!-ing direction

When people lose the ability to communicate.

Were only trying to help you.
-
When there are no more views to force or no more humans.
-
lol this thread. Seriously, religious discussion needs to be banned altogether. (and before one of you retards goes and says something like "well why dont you hide it hurr durr?" Its because if I hide it, I don't see it. doesn't change the fact that everyone else is still flaming each other to all hell, creating animosity and hate between members where there shouldn't be)

How long is a piece of string, OP?
-
We could just stop talking about it in general, that would be okay with me.
-
Pfft, you kidding? Never.

Edited by God: 1/20/2013 5:58:30 PMHow do you force beliefs through the internet? Since when has having an opinion been considered forceful?
-
Not all religions are good, and not all religions are bad. Some, like Buddhism and Hinduism, are good religions. Some, like Islam and Christianity, are bad religions.
-
When everyone shares the same views.
-
When the economy start growing again and people (especially on this forum) get a -blam!-ing job.

When the last islamic fascist is locked up, when the last women is oppressed by religion, when the last child is abused by a priest and their is no punishment afterwords, when the last criminal religious organization is wiped out, when the last politician creates policy based off of their religious views and is voted out of office because of this, and when the last law that allows for someone to be discriminated or murdered based on their sexuality is repealed, THEN I WILL LISTEN to what you have to say about people pushing for you to accept secularism.
