I just got back from a trip to a nature center with my photography class. We were taking photos of some birds of prey that the center has in captivity. Here are the ones we saw:

Screech Owl
Cooper's Hawk

And of course, the bird in the photo above is a bald eagle.

Excellent pictures, OP!

Good photos. You're getting some use from that camera. Photography Class too. Some sort of hawk lives in a tree near my house. I have not seen it up close so I can't yet identify it. Its huge though. It could easily take most dogs that people own around here, if they're not careful.

Pssh, I get to see all the cool birdies we've got here in New Zealand! They're all really cool.
-
Living in Montana I get too see these birds quite often.

A Harpy Eagle would make most people shit themselves. They are freaking huge, have talons like gorilla hands (with hooks for nails) and aren't afraid of anything. They hunt monkeys, and when they are looking at you, you can tell that to them, you just look like a really big meal.

Edited by IVI1CR0S0F7: 1/19/2013 12:38:30 AMI saw a falcon or hawk sitting on top of a squirrel and than fly off with it. I'm guessing it was a hawk since it looked similar to the pictures you posted. Actually, I just typed in falcon into Google. The bird also looked like one.

I've done falconry, and flown birds of prey, as well as some owls, and eagles. ujelly?

Edited by OctaviusFalcon: 1/18/2013 8:34:57 PMBirds of prey are awesome. I get to see them up close every Tuesday, because I do some work at a nature center. Imagine being no more than two feet away from a vicious and hungry Peregrine Falcon (with no cage separating you from it) while holding its food. It's pretty damn intimidating. Also, great pictures!

Yes. So majestic.

cool mike

Birds of prey I believe are the most beautiful. I love the bald eagle, and that Red-tailed Hawk looks fierce.

Taken last year with a crap slider phone. Hard to see but it has a rat in one its talons.
-
What nature center did you go to OP?
-
I was in Thailand and a bird took my burger. Though I got a complimentary burger after it when I came back to my room.

that picture is pretty american I think I'll set it as my wallpaper and add some fireworks
