I don't know what you guys think of Twitter, but I joined it the other day and have found it almost totally boring. Perhaps it is like .next, and over the next few days it will grow on me more and more, who knows? In any case I just looked on it and one of my friends had re-tweeted a link to a site which deals with the facts surrounding the Catholic sex abuse scandal.
Here's a link.
Very interesting isn't it.
I never would have guessed the rate was that low, the way the media and my friends talks about it. The fact that the priest abuse rate is lower than other males in the general population is a real revelation to me. I thought if I didn't know these facts (I had been making un-fair judgement in my mind as a result) then perhaps most of .next didn't know these either, and would be interested.
What do you guys think?

What do I think? That the problem lies with NOT it happening at a set rate, but with the Catholic Church defending those priests who do.
-
Well duh. I mean, if anyone actually thought otherwise, you'd have to be a pretty stupid person. Or a hardcore atheist who loves to hate on religion 24/7.
-
I'm rather sceptical that one in ten American males commits sexual abuse against a minor.
-
People act like this is an epidemic, but it really isnt. Yes it does happen and it is tragic, but it is not nearly as widespread as people think it is.
-
It was Aliens
-
Isn't the outraged caused less by the fact that it's happening (which is still unforgivable) and more by the fact that the Catholic Church has actively covered up evidence of abuse in the past (and may still be doing so)? I'm not sure about overseas, but certainly here in Australia that's what the issue is about.

That site seems to be dealing with just the pedo Catholics in the US so what they say may be true about that country. The sad fact is that pedo Catholics is a global problem and I doubt what is said on that site is true for the world as a whole.
