Official League of Legends discussion thread
Thought we could have one, since more members of MBT are starting to play. You know how these things work.
For those that don't know or are interested, league of legends is a free online game where you fight in arenas on teams, trying to destroy the enemy base. Its that RTS-styled field of view, but your champion has skills. Its not an RPG, its not an RTS. Its fun. leagueoflegends.com

Zyra up on the PBE, about to go play her as soon as I finish loading my updates. After a first glance at her stats, following thoughts: Her W functions kind of like Heimers Q, where you store seeds (max 2) every 17 sec. Biggest difference is that a seed only lasts 30 seconds once placed, so it leads me to think they want her to be much more of a burst or combo champion, instead of the slow poke and kite Heimer is. Her Q sounds a lot like Karthus' Q, planting a seed that explodes after a delay. The big difference is that if cast on a seed, it grows it into a plant with a decent range that fires projectiles. Its scaling is fairly average, but it has a decent range. E seems like her best ability; range of an Ahri orb or charm, roots opponents and deals damage. If it hits a seed, it does the same thing Q does, only at a bit shorter range. Look like they want you to combo E into Q, so you root your opponents, grow seeds, then damage opponents and grow the seed into a longer range. R is an AOE knockup that does damage, as well as growing seeds into plants with a decent range and 50% increased AS. Seems beast in a teamfight, and in combination with something like an Amumu ult could feasibly wipe an entire team. I'm worried about the amount of damage it actually does with its scaling, but we'll see. Her passive is reminiscent of Kogmaw. When she dies she grows into a plant, firing off one last projectile. The big deal here is that the projectile is guided by what you're mousing over, and it does TRUE DAMAGE to every champion it passes through. That seems huge to me. If you're being chased, you can turn and burst your opponents down, then snipe them off with your passive. I'll post again after I get a few games in with her, but I think she needs to be built more like a LeBlanc or Ahri, instead of Karthus or Morgana, so Rabadons, Rylais, Hextech, instead of Rod of Ages, Zhonyas, etc. EDIT: I need to get Cass so I can buy that skin. The basic idea of Zyra's abilities is that she places down buds/seeds, and then depending on what skills you use on them will make the plants grow and do different things. That was someones guess on the forums, and Morello said that it was pretty close. And Jayce's gate isnt too OP, the mana cost might go up but thats about it. The Twitch+Eve reworks seem good. (Zyra Patch)[/url] This is big news, as Twitch and Evelynn will become much more viable picks, and will ultimately feel different and play differently. It's like getting two new characters. Each will have higher skill caps and the new stealth systems will allow for better gameplay and more fun for everyone. This will be more endearing to newer players who got raped by stealth, and will allow higher skilled players to more effectively use these champions, as they were very easily countered by a few items.

After seeing Jayce in action, I'm pretty sure his gate is going to be nerfed in the coming weeks. It's an incredibly powerful ability, and its cooldown/cost ratio is pretty overpowered. Overall seems like an awesome concept though, and I could see him becoming a tournament-level champion once people figure out his optimal build/role.

So we know that the 101st champion is named Zyra, is a plant mage, and does something totally and completely unique according to morello. I'm rather excited.

You always want to time your passive so you're on your Q so you can pop off massive damage on a squishy in lane. You can also opt for having your E up for a slow if you're getting a gank. The W power chord is kind of useless in my experience. Soraka has always been boring to play. I'd say top 3 supports for me: 1. Blitz 2. Sona 3. Alistar Taric and Janna are close though. Riot loves nerfing Janna though, so that's why she's not up there. [Edited on 07.08.2012 3:42 AM PDT]

I figured out this whole Sona thing. Supposedly after casting say her q,w, or e, it gives off some unique aura of sorts. If I land 3 spells, my next spell will be a power cord. So basically if you are around me, you can either do big damage, magic and damage resist, or go faster. With her powercords, she can be a big burst damage type champion.

Dan I agree with pretty much everything you just said. I'll leave it at that. But after watching the Jayce Champion Spotlight, damn that guy is cool. Seems so fun and definitely has a high skill cap.
