A girl posts pictures of themselves in bikinis, that's alright. A girl is seen in a bikini, awesome.
A girl is accidently caught in underwear? OMG so embarrassing! Or say she posts a picture of her in a bra? SLUT.
Can anyone tell me why this is? For the most part, they cover the same amount of skin

Because girls.

Whats this "girl" you speak of?
-
because Pineapples!

Social standards?

Edited by ToastyWaffles: 1/17/2013 5:03:37 PMThere are different clothing rules at beaches and swimming pools. If you went anywhere else in speedos or a bikini it would be pretty damn weird.

This is another example of why people laugh at feminists and never take them seriously.
-
People posting semi-naked pictures of themselves (regardless of their gender) never really seems like a smart idea. Employers do want access to your Facebook accounts, you know? I realize the link is a Twitter post, but that kind of thing happens all the time on Facebook too, and those pictures stay on Facebook.

Because underwear isn't meant to be seen.
-
Because bikinis are meant to swim in, the woman knows people are able to see her, so she tries to look as good as possible. Underwear, meant to be worn under clothes, not intended for others to see, women don't care how they look in underwear (it's usually bad) so they are embarrassed. It's not hard to understand, why men still ask this baffles me.

Edited by XB Fighter: 1/17/2013 2:12:51 AMIts the same with speedos and boxers too. I'm a water polo player, and I'm in my speedo all the time. But if I walk around the pool deck in only my boxers, "Put some clothes on!" wat

who the hell is this jorddy guy and why don't I have as much swag as him OT: Different uses, underwear is usually worn to be hidden, bikinis are used to showcase dem assets.
-
Because they both have different purposes. I know, it don't make much sense but that's it. Swim suits are meant to go swimming in, while underwear is meant to be wore under clothes.
-
Women choose to be seen in their bikinis. Underwear is more private and girls generally don't want to be seen in it.
-
I believe it's the context of the situation. I guess they think that underwear is something to be only seen in private, while swim suits are meant to be seen. I know it doesn't really make sense but it's the best theory I have.

because society is full of double standards.
-
It should be encouraged
-
I've never understood it either. I don't recall seeing as much self embarrassment as shaming from other people though. Society is just stupid like that.
-
I have no idea it makes no sense to me either.
