For those who are fortunate to not have an Origin account, the Demo comes out on the 22nd of this month.
Anyway, for those who have played it, what are your impressions of it?
For me, (may contain spoilers)
I'm still undecided on it. Single player still plays like Dead Space, yet the environment feels awful, no longer are there long sequences of darkness, or zero gravity areas, or 'engineer mini games'. Most buildings are one room long before you are back outside with the bright orange sun which somehow makes you unable to run or walk fast unless you aim????
As for enemies, the ability to have a Necromorph shoot at you with an assault rifle just feels wrong. Saying that, having humans shoot at you as well feels wrong to. Oh and the cover mechanic is pretty non existent. There also seems to be ample amounts of bosses, from crazy cranes (whihc defy protocols) to giant Necro's, though in the demo you never get to experience an entire battle with one.
The other new enemies (the Necro ones) seem to jell well with what you'd be accustomed to in Dead Space 1 & 2.
Now my main issue with the demo is this: QTE's. I think there are at least 5 of them, in 40 minutes of gameplay. It quickly got old for me and most of them were in place for really stupid reasons. If I remember correctly one contains you escaping of a cliff edge through a digger of some sorts, but it's really confusing as to what is actually the danger seeing as the cliff is only like 10 metres tall?
As for positives, the graphics and soundtrack are just how you remember them, albeit there is no distinct theme. The Work bench idea is pretty cool, though the menu's feel slightly cluttered.
Note: I have not tried co-op.
