Crafting system made sure everyone who put in X amount of time will eventually get the perk combo they want , whether it took 5 hours or 20 hours to get all patterns and that respected players time and it was a good move by bungie
Then you go ahead and remove it from seasonal weapons , is it because the one who introduced it got layed off or something idk ?
You removed luck based system to something that rewards someone who spends their time . I've focused around 300 Aurvandil FR6 and didn't get a single one with reconstruction and chill chip and my friend got it on their 5th or 6th focus. That is the bullshit randomness system you have with current seasonal weapons, dungeon weapons
Other than hard core players who spend hours grinding your game ( who will eventually burn out ofcourse ) , you're making the game less appealing for anyone who has a job and have limited playtime which is majority of playebase.
Idk about others but I feel less motivated to buy season passes anymore or play anything beyond the story ( which I can just YouTube it ) .. the time spend on destiny just got less rewarding and if you're " unlucky " you make zero progress.
You had a nice idea and you're throwing it away and making the game less appealing. Good job bungie.

What do think of allowing crafting but only for world drops and seasonal weapons?
-
Yes, I fully support the return of crafting and reshaping.
-
We need ghost mods to dictate the weapon masterworks if Bungie wishes to promote non-crafted weapons.
-
If they add them at a later date I am okay with it as long as it’s added, but the lack of red bar weapons has completely removed my desire to play the seasonal activities. I may have done four Revenant Onslaughts and I just don’t care to play it anymore. Even when I get new weapons they always seem to be the same rolls anyway so It’s usually just an auto-delete. Bungie would have to go back to a sunsetting scenario where I need to get those guns to give me any motivations. They won’t because they’ve always been too scarce and sparse with loot drops in a looter shooter game.
-
Crafting (of weapons) was simply a good addition. For me, playing the game was more motivating than without it. But as always with Bungie, there's no constant with them.
-
crafting in this game sucked. This not an MMO like WOW, it is a looter shooter. Bungie's desire to constantly change, and add perks has lead to an untenable situation. There are too many perk combos and too many worthless weapons. Making the grind impossible. Rather than address the core issue they put in place a poorly desired system that still relies too heavily on RNG. It was broken from the start and is still a poor replacement for good game design.
-
I’m a gambling addict and I hate crafting
-
They have to balance crafting with chasing loot. They should allow 3 craftable weapons of choice per season or episode. One primary, special and heavy. This way players can craft their most desirable weapons but need to chase others. I love crafting but I get why they changed it. Players log on grab the red borders and then tune out. So they need to find a balance of both IMO.
-
I don’t like the rng system because it feels like the more you play the worse your rng gets. I farm weapons for hours sometimes days and I never get the roll I want. After the weight gate bug patch it feels like my rng has gotten so bad. I do like the loot chase but when it takes way too long not really. That’s why I like crafting because it makes the loot chase bearable. If they want to make crafting less prominent then they neeed sources of focusing that aren’t so expensive, and attunement for weapon perks. Kinda like the menagerie or onslaught system.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 11/23/2024 3:29:34 PMCrafting just needed balancing. All they had to do was make seasonal weapons both craftable and enhanceable but remove weekly freebie red borders and make focusing not give red borders. Red borders from activity completions only. That’s it. Get your god roll of weapon A early? Cool. Now you have it. Never get your god roll for weapon C by the time you complete the pattern? Cool. Go craft it now. Bad luck protection. That’s actual bad luck protection. That’s actual meaningful agency for players when bad luck wears out its welcome. Yet here we are again. Dealing with Bungie’s complete lack of moderation when something is a problem. No balancing. Just gut it or remove or change it completely. Now like half the player base is annoyed. Same story different season.
-
Really look at these seasonal guns. I have their godrolls. On over half of them. They’d be the same roll crafted. Let me tell you a secret; they suck. Crafted or not. And after this episode ends, nobody will ever use these guns. Mark my words.
-
I don’t think they would have nearly this much push back if the game actually dropped loot lol
-
I agree. Options do matter and removing crafting from the game bc streamers suggested it is not the answer. The game definitely took a step backwards by removing crafting. Not all new weapons have to be craftable, but at least 2 or 3 should have been craftable in Revenant.
-
Edited by AppleSoda: 11/23/2024 7:37:57 PMI know many people will probably whine about this opinion but… bring crafting back to seasonal weapons, remove the ability to use harmonizers on new weapons, remove the free weekly red border, and remove their ability to get enhanced perks (not retroactive, only on new crafted weapons). Random weapons should be enhanceable and be able to change masterwork. Adepts can be enhanced and change barrel, mag, and masterwork. Add more robust focusing/bonus perk options to counteract bad RNG. I feel that’s a fair compromise that allows players to earn a good weapon in a deterministic way while still encouraging top players to farm for those last few percents of optimization on their favorite/most powerful guns.
-
What about a compromise? Return crafting , but you will need 20 deepsights instead of 5 to unlock the pattern
-
A concrete understanding of an end in sight. You know exactly how much it takes to get something you want. You know how much progress you have made. You can come home, sit down, get a couple of deep sights and know that your time wasn't wasted due to bad RNG. I have been wanting this for Traveler knows how long. So I agree. I want it to be 20 red borders to unlock and have random rolls be placed holders.
-
A lot of the crafted weapons just aren't worth it. Personally I don't mind crafting but prefer rng it's a good feeling when you get that random roll that you wanted. I was so happy getting reckless oracle with destabilising rounds and repulser brace I don't care wen I finish patterns.
-
Edited by CozMcKilljoy: 11/23/2024 6:37:12 PMI don’t like the method we have to obtain these patterns. Takes forever or they will not drop. I’d much rather have a form of investment where you use a weapon to upgrade it, get kills or other objectives with it, to unlock more and more customizations to go along with it. Or be able to dismantle a weapon and obtain a perk to slot into the weapon during the fine tuning process.

This 💯
you're making the game less appealing for anyone who has a job and have limited playtime which is majority of playebase.
When people say this dumb stuff I just stop caring about their concerns. Yell harder at Bungie I'm sure they'll listen.
-
Haven’t you noticed the past few seasons the best weapon(s) of that season was a uncraftable weapon roll, E.G. Ros Arago IV, Heliocentric etc. Non raid craftable weapons are purposely made to be mid. I’d rather rng that -blam!- any day. P.S. just finally got a Martyrs Retribution with demo and incandescent after 40+ drops. Was worth it!
-
I think bungie went to far by having crafting only at the end of the episode, It would be far more tolerable if we had a war table of sorts and engrams, instead we get tonics. Either leave crafting and take away the engram farm or leave the engram farm and take crafting. Didn't need to do both
-
crafting after the first season is killing the game (making a live service game a near full casual game is a bad move ), but removing crafting without the tier system is stupid after all the episode are already a full casual content
