Background:
- Been playing destiny since forsaken, used a steam controller with PC bindings, and moved to a dualsense with standard gamepad bindings. and gyro set to as-joystick (or equivalent) and have been playing this way since 2020
- using gyro has worked flawlessly until I noticed that it no longer worked last week, but it was working a couple of weeks ago. I suspect something has been changed.
The Issue:
There is no longer a method to use gyro "as-joystick" via steam input for this game and this game alone.
I have checked with other games in my library and have concluded that this is not a steam input specific issue, as all other games have a "as-joystick" or equivalent option in their steam input settings, but destiny does not.
The options presented in destiny are "right_stick" "left_stick" and "joystick". None of these act in a way that I would expect a as-joystick gyro control to operate.
Instead of being a relative motion option, all three of these options presently operate as just a virtual joystick, which is not the intended behavior sought by a gyro "as-joystick" option.
the "joystick" option just mimics the other 2 options with the "right" setting having the same affect as "right_stick". The "left" setting has the same affect as "left_stick". The "Relative Mouse" option does nothing.
Valve has beta options for "Gyro as Joystick Camera" and "Gyro as Joystick Deflection", though neither of these options do anything inside of destiny 2 at all.
This lack of relative movement options effectively breaks gyro controls for controllers and relative pad camera controls for the the steam controllers pads and the dualsense's touch areas.
I understand that most PC players would scoff at the use of gyro controls and that most would likely not see this as a problem, but I have been playing this game this way for many years now and it has only just recently become broken.
When:
I believe this issue started with update 8.1.0.4 as I played a little of the Halloween event when it was first starting and had no issues with my controls. The first time I noticed the issue was when I had next played the game which was on November 16th, of which only 1 patch had been issued for the game between this time period.
I hope this issue gets rectified soon.
I would like to do more dungeons, elders runs and onslaughts without being a detriment to my team or clan mates.

Hi there, We recommend reaching out to Steam's support for assistance with controls and limitations on their platform. As a potential workaround in the meantime, if Steam is only preventing the use of gyro in Destiny 2, you may be able to enable gyro through Steam's Desktop controls and configure Destiny 2 to use Steam's Desktop controls instead.
