I just don't know what happened to this game.
So act 2
Talk to Eido and Mithrax
Go to prison
Talk to Eido
Go to prison
Give Spider comic book
Release Eramis.
Act over....
What? I just don't understand.
I get that we got onslaught and the prison... that's great. But there is a serious lack of effort in so many areas. Why are we talking to Eido and Mithrax on a holo projector while standing literally right next to them?
The environments are on point, but it just feels so empty at the same time.
I've been playing other games over the last 6 months and I come back for the acts but i've been so disappointed since Act 1 of echoes. The magic is just gone for me. The writing is so elementary lately, there's little to no sense of danger despite the game telling me there is.
I hope that frontiers can deliver. I've beat the prison twice now and I now have no desire to play until the next act.
I know this post seems whiny, and yeah I guess it is. 10 years of this being my favorite game only to feel almost nothing as I go through these acts. But man, I watched someone play D1 for the first time a couple weeks ago and it's almost painful to see how different the tone and feel of the game is from then to now.. I really do miss it, It's like watching a video of a long lost friend.
There's just nothing in the story pulling me into the Destiny universe anymore.
The "darkness" really was shouldering a lot of this game in my opinion. And once the witness was revealed to be a singular being... instead of an army inside those ships it just fell totally flat for me. I saw concept art for the different forms of the witness, but we just got... a bigger witness.... with more hands.... idk.
idk what i'm trying to say here... but I can't see myself playing the game for much longer.

Played first mission and turned it off. I already played much better version of prison of elders

Destiny 2 now: Breathing on life support
-
Lmao. I thought that they went back to weekly drops for the acts. Play prison of elders once, challenge of elders once, play a campaign mission… thats the whole act? Hmm.

D1. Darkness, mystery, unknown. D2. Neon, discovered, played out. Some is nostalgia and some is the games growth. In some ways it's a way better game than D1 ever could be but in others it gone overboard and fallen flat dispute itself. It's a shame that the story holds not threat or sense of imminent doom anymore, partly due to story and partly due to that same growth. The whole feel to the game is very different these days with way too many ...... Everything. D1 was a simpler time that's best remembered. Sadly, there ain't no going back.

This is destiny 2 now ….bungie have a much reduced team working on D2 ….i mean the game is still going . People just have to accept and lower expectations. I only play PvP …well control through out the week ….making the most of it before PvP grinds to a halt 🤷🏼♂️

I agree… Allison straight up lied when she sold us on these episodes. This is straight up trash…

I’ve been saying that about the witness since they were revealed. Shadowkeep was probably the last expansion where “the darkness” felt interesting. Beyond Light was the start of the downward spiral for the franchise imo. We should’ve had beef with Xivu not the witness, it would’ve brought the story full circle.

Season of "eido tries to OD on stupid pills". Im not a big crow fan, but I was punching air the second she went off on crow for being selfish for not wanting to let an actual "enemy of humanity" out of prison because, apparently, a phone call doesn't seem to cut it, and eido can't be bothered to walk around the corner and ask for help in person. She was able to help us find the apothecary just fine without leaving that cell. Then she has the audacity to go to us and say "you know that person who killed your friends and attacked your 'not god'(whatever the traveler is) on multiple occasions? We're breaking her out!" with literally no justification other than I said so. And of course we'll do it, and of course she'll be right in the end because "of course she is". I'd be fine with it if there was any sense behind it and didn't make our gardian look like the stupidest fool. Just give us a reason, collateral, anything that says it has to be her and no one else.

It’s so bad. A lot of my friends that used to play don’t even want to play for maintenance. We got these free new guns because of the perk controversy and they don’t even care. This episode is a disaster.

Edited by Mark, Scholar of Stars: 11/20/2024 9:20:11 AMIt is known that Bungie had two waves of layoffs. Who should come the development come from if several key developers are gone? For episodes, it's a different team now, with a reduced approach. It's sad, because Destiny - Destiny 2 could be "the" game, but Bungie did what they did to be where they are now. Edit: But just to be fair, I liked the first Episode. The only thing what was unnecessary was the nerf of Choir of One.

It's clear the seasonal model just doesn't work for good storytelling. Sad part if it was fleshed out like a real quest it would have been fun

It is kind of an epilogue/cool down period for the game. They do have to make the stuff so it will probably just take until frontiers comes out like they said. A lot of people have brought up D1 today. I don't think anyone would say its bad to draw inspiration from that game.
