When Marathon tanks what happens to Bungie?
Sony takes over & shortly thereafter announces D3 in development as a PlayStation exclusive.
I can totally see this happening given the present state of D2 & the fact that Marathon is an extraction shooter.

Sony would let bungie go independent as they don’t have the power to just take over the studio due to their contract agreement when bungie let Sony buy them out. Sony can’t even make them put out Sony exclusives only as again it’s part of the buyout agreement. Sony would already have them exclusive if they could. I also think people underestimate how big bungie is, one tanking game will hardly doom them, I don’t see marathon tanking either, even being a mixed game will be good enough for them I’m sure.

So you're wanting Sony to hasten the closure of Bungie by wanting them to force them into making the next installment a PS exclusive? Do you honestly believe that a) there is a healthy enough PSN population to offset the lost of the 3 other platforms and / or b) that this franchise going exclusive would alone drive the sales of consoles to offset the lost of the 3 other platforms?

Most likely bungie gets shut down destiny 2 development gets stopped the destiny IP shelved for the foreseeable. No guarantee a D3 would succeed so makes sense to go for safer bets to recoup losses. Sony are a business and if the risk reward is bad Sony walk and on top of that buying bungie was already a bad move.

They should start charging for the "downfall of Bungie" posts then they'd be able to fund Marathon and Destiny and the yet to be revealed "Super Soul Glo Shakedown" forever.
