Hello, Guardians and Bungie team,
I’ve been with Destiny since its very beginning, over a decade ago. My story with this game is deeply personal. When the original Destiny was released, I was paralyzed and confined to bed. My family told me about this new game, and my brother-in-law even bought me an Xbox and the game, encouraging me to log in daily and give it a try. I could never have guessed how this game would become such a constant source of joy and connection, not only for me but for my entire family.
My two young sons, who were just learning to walk when I started, would climb into bed to watch me play, fascinated by the world of Destiny, the loot, the perks, and the lore. As they grew, they became players themselves, often better than me! Now, as teenagers, they love this game more than I could’ve imagined, and the four of us – even my wife, who only recently picked up gaming – bond through every strike, dungeon, and expansion. Destiny isn’t just a game for us; it’s part of our family. We play together every weekend, share the excitement of new loot, and celebrate each other's successes.
Yet, as I’ve aged, I find myself stepping back from raids and some of the more competitive content. Still, we all look forward to our weekend dungeon runs. But lately, I've been facing an odd challenge that seems to only apply to my account – the RNG with dungeon exotics. I’m aware Destiny is built around RNG and that luck plays a role, but something feels off, especially with weapons like the Hierarchy of Needs and the Buried Bloodline sidearm in Warlord’s Ruin.
For context, I’ve run the Warlord’s Ruin dungeon around 45 times now, and my family members have each received the Buried Bloodline exotic sidearm multiple times, sometimes twice in a weekend. Yet, despite running the dungeon on all three characters every weekend and farming during focused weekends, I have not received this exotic even once. This has been a recurring theme – from Hierarchy of Needs to Icebreaker in the latest dungeon, I seem to consistently miss out on key dungeon exotics while my family receives them frequently.
I’ve tried various approaches: getting the highest DPS, lowest DPS, and just running naturally. Nothing seems to influence my odds. I understand RNG is part of Destiny’s charm, and I don’t want to come across as complaining. However, as a devoted player who has been part of the Destiny community since the beginning, it’s disheartening to feel left out of the experiences my family enjoys, especially when we all play together.
So, my question is this: is there a known issue with RNG, or could it be possible there’s something tied to my account that’s impacting drop rates for these dungeon exotics? Or am I just having an extended unlucky streak? I’d appreciate any insights from Bungie or other Guardians who might have experienced similar issues.
Thank you for reading, and for the amazing experiences Destiny has brought to my family over the years. No matter what, I’m grateful for the memories we’ve made in this game and look forward to many more.
Thank you, and best wishes to all Guardians, may your RNG luck be greater than mine! :P

UPDATE: Well, the family just ran it around 8 more times Monday (11/4) night. Wife got it again tonight. I changed builds, exotics, guns, masks, Wifi networks, sparrows, ghost, ship, matched my wife's build, out DPS'ed her and my 14yr old. Still no Buried Bloodline..... :(
