Vesper's Final Boss is Very Anti-Colorblind Friendly

Disclaimer: I've solo flawlessed all the other dungeons. This is not a complaint about game difficulty. Is the lightning a bit overtuned for a normal mode dungeon? Maybe. I'm not fully colorblind, but sometimes it's hard for me to distinguish between shades of yellow, orange, or white when they're placed next to each other. There is no colorblind setting in game that helps this in the slightest. So imagine my frustration when I physically can't see the lightning that Atraks summons on the damage platform other than the physical lightning effects that happen AFTER the lightning hits the ground. I've been looking through Vesper's Host feedback and there's people without any colorblindness-- people with PERFECTLY GOOD EYESIGHT-- unable to see the lightning on the ground until after it strikes because the entire arena is saturated in orange light from the anomaly in the distance, and the lightning effects are orange as well. There's only one other dungeon with a wipe mechanic: Warlord's Ruin with its Hex Corruption (or whatever the debuff name was called). This was VERY noticeable for me because it affected the hue of my character's vision AND had a timer for its debuff. Another one-shot attack from this year: the Witness' attacks in both Salvation's Edge and Excision, but those were very noticeable because the Witness would physically move his hand into position to blast a certain spot on the platform and the floor was BLACK while the beams were ORANGE. Even in soulslike games, enemies have to charge up their attacks and they will physically swing/shoot/slam-whatever so you have a chance to parry/dodge/counter-whatever. Either these lightning attacks need to be toned down or they need to be more noticeable compared to the arena. I'd be fine with them one-shotting on normal if they were easier for me to see.

  • They need to implement a timer at the top of the HUD counting down the Lightning Strike of the respective pool. It’s noticeable enough to give fair warning if that were the case. Otherwise, Bungie has overtuned the Lightning damage. I had full Arc Resist and was standing in a well, and I was still shocked and shot out of it. On Normal no less. I’m not asking to be immortal, but goddam, it’s an Environmental effect, not a wipe mechanic.
