So recently I was doing vanguard ops (for the tedious “Legend” title) and I came across The Insight Terminus. Now most people, including myself, have probably forgot this strike even existed. It’s so old it still has references to when Cayde-6 got stuck in a Vex teleporter. Anyways- That’s not our point. At the end of the strike your ghost will have dialogue with Zavala mentioning that someone by the name of “MSund12” went through the Vex archives on Nessus, and what they were looking for (and who they were) is unknown to us. Zavala tells you and your ghost there are more important matters and it will be looked upon later. It was never once touched after that…
Upon Lightfall release we learn of Maya Sundaresh and her Wife. Maya grew an unhealthy obsession with the veil to the point that a voice we assume of as the witness speaks to her. She goes all crazy and runs a bunch of tests, kills a lot of people, makes an exo clone, etc. After all of this though she kinda is just shoved off of the story and forgotten.
Now we reach Episode: Echoes. We learn that Maya wants to bring a golden age and uses the echo to find a Chioma (her wife) that will have full blind faith in Maya’s actions. She ultimately fails and we send her running in a very underwhelming cutscene at the end of the episode. The reason why this is important though is because of the way she would search for Chioma. Maya would use the one thing she had access to, which was of course, the Nessus Vex Archives. The exact same thing that MSund12 was tapping into all those years ago…
Now there are a few things that can contradict this theory. For instance, we still don’t know who or what Oxa/Otzot is (an alternate voice line from the MSund12 one) and on top of that, I’m still trying to debate on the timelines that these events would have happened between. We don’t know how long Maya had been searching for Chioma and we don’t know if she needed the echo to do that.
Anyways- just thought I’d point this out to y’all to see what you think! I’ve always wondered who the so called “MSund12” was and only now am I putting a theory together. Tell me what y’all think and or if I missed anything! Later Guardians :)

I realized that, too. The Encore mission even mentions MSund12.
