Bit of background, every season since they started, I have done the weekly seasonal challenges so I can get the big bright dust pay day at the end of the season, and I will say, there have been some really stupid challenges over the seasons, but this episode/season probably takes the cake.
The 3 challenges that are arguable the worst you have ever designed are Deepest Bass, Electric Shred and Red Hot Riff, for those who haven't seen or done them, each of these challenges requires you to "Defeat Vex with XYZ damage in Gambit or Vanguard Ops activities.", where XYZ is a certain element, Void, Arc, Solar.
You might be asking why is this the worst challenge, well that cause some idiot at Bungie has decided to decrease the odds of Vex appearing in Gambit this season (and honestly who would bother doing this objective in gambit anyway) but to make matters worse, there is barely any Vex based vanguard ops, even the strikes/battlegrounds that do have Vex are mostly hybrid and combined with a different enemy group, which means the total amount of enemy you can kill per activity is already small, but then we get to larger problem, the total amount of vanguard ops with Vex in them at all is tiny in comparison to the rest of the groups.
I have spent 3 hours in the vanguard ops playlist and have not found a SINGLE -blam!- VEX TO KILL
Why, cause this Vanguard ops doesn't have it
And finally, just to piss on you further, the amount of vex you are required to kill is not a small number either.
So Bungie, answer me this, which one of you idiots thought this was a good idea?

I found a friend with the Insight Terminus GM available. Loaded it up and peeled off to the Orrery Lost Sector in Artefacts Edge, which is full of Vex. Did the challenges very quickly utilising this method. Granted, unable to be done with randoms who would advance into the mission and cause you to join allies. It was a workaround for time abusive challenges implemented to maximise player engagement. In the long run it’s this sort of chicanery that negatively affects player retention. Quite short sighted of Bungie in my view.
