I believe it's important to incentivize players to help Sherpa new players through raids; they shouldn't be told, "Go watch a raid guide for dummies." It would be a good idea to reissue gg emblems and have them linked to Sherpas. For starters, I am referring to the following emblems: Helping Hand, Neophyte Guide, Apprentice Guide, and Master Guide. These were previously obtained raid completions in the gg playlist by being a guide and helping raid "seekers" through a raid. As of now, gg has been retired along with the emblems, but I think there is an excellent opportunity to add them back, like the 10 Sherpas emblems obtained through Bungie Rewards.
An excellent way to add them back without players being upset is:
A.) keep the requirements for the emblem (1,10,25,50) sherpas and have it tracked across all raids.
B.) Players need to keep their previous progress. We already have stat trackers in-game that show sherpas. Once you get to the amount (1,10,25,50) needed for each respective emblem across all raids, you get it from either Bungie rewards or special deliveries.
Again, this helps with the primary goal of helping new players get into raids.
Let me know what you think!

There are so many ways to show your prowess in Destiny, and if emblems are your thing, then I agree. Sometimes, these things can let others know who you are. I don't see the harm. However, it was an event. And I think only seasons have been brought back after the fact for the cosmetics. Emblems seem a bit vague and extremely exclusive. If I earned one and it was brought back, your requirements meet my expectations, but do they meet others? Sorry for my ramble. Your idea is valid regardless.
