Yeah I guess it's more fanfiction than lore, but I figured I would post it for anyone that wanted to know what's your fire team leaders probably go through behind the scenes when you complete a petra run. I was lucky enough to be part of doing it for the very first time, and only time since we got it on the first try. I may never do it again. Zavala is intense.

The Dreaming City’s haunting light filters into Petra’s planning chamber, casting long shadows across the obsidian table. Zavala stands tall, his frame rigid with barely contained anger. Across from him, Sunless leans back in her chair, casually spinning a fidget spinner between her fingers, a smirk playing on her lips. Doc, ever the calm Warlock, sits beside her, arms folded. Petra, a little shaken, watches from the side.
Zavala’s voice slices through the quiet. “**Fireteam Redacted**, **Shaxx’s favorite fireteam**... You took Petra into Riven’s lair. One wrong move, and it could have fallen apart. Just one more mistake for Elizabeth to clean up.”
Doc, unshaken, meets Zavala’s eyes. “We didn’t make a wrong move, Zavala. We beat Riven. Flawless. Got the achievement to prove it.”
Zavala’s fists tighten as his voice grows sharper, and then he slams his fist into the desk. “An *achievement*? You think this is about some trophy? You gambled with more than just your lives. You think just because it worked out this time, it was the right choice?”
His anger peaks. “You gambled with our lives. *Everyone’s* lives. The whole damn Last City.”
Sunless, now showing the fidget spinner to her Ghost.
Before things can escalate further, Petra steps forward, her voice calm but firm. “Zavala, I chose to go with them. I wasn’t forced. Riven needed to be stopped, and I trusted them.”
Zavala’s gaze softens slightly as he looks at Petra, but his frustration remains. “This isn’t about killing Riven, Petra. It’s about the risk they took. You shouldn’t have been put in that position.”
A heavy silence fills the room, and for a moment, the only sound is the soft whirring of Sunless’ fidget spinner.
Zavala’s gaze snaps to her. “Sunless, is this a game to you?” he snaps, his voice sharp.
Sunless looks up, quirking an eyebrow with a playful smirk. “Well, we didn’t die, did we? And we got the achievement, so yeah, I’d say we handled it just fine.”
Zavala’s frustration only grows. “Handled it? You risked everything.”
Sunless leans forward, her expression serious at first. “Oh, and you never gambled with our lives? What about when you made me—" she deepens her voice and pulls a goofy expression, "step into war with the Cabal on Mars?”
Zavala fires back immediately, his voice unwavering. “Those Siege Dancers had it coming.”
Doc finally speaks up. “Zavala, sometimes you need to take risks. You’re too cautious. That’s why we’re still standing. And that’s also why you have no achievements.”
Zavala steps closer, his voice low but stern. “Just because you survived this time doesn’t mean it was the right decision. One day, your luck will run out. And when it does, it won’t just be your lives—it’ll be the lives of everyone in the Last City.”
The room falls into a heavy silence as Zavala’s words hang in the air. After a tense moment, Sunless leans in. “You really just wanted 1k Voices, didn’t you?”
Zavala, almost inaudibly, mutters, “Yes.”
