Unable to join players due to NAT issues

Over the past few days i have encountered an issue where i am unable to join specific people in activities, if i try to join one of these people in any activity either me or them will be kicked only moments after loading and will receive either of the error codes "beaver", "rabbit" or "quail". This issue has been effecting every single activity, the only place where it doesn't is when in orbit. Although you can only see it when in a fireteam with a specific person in a few raids i have noticed that i have issues when joining a person when under their name it says something along the lines off "voice chat unavailable due to NAT issues". I have met a number of other people who have been having this same issue with it only having come about recently. This issue has nearly made it impossible to play crucible and incredibly frustrating and difficult to join raid groups, although i am located in Australia so with crucible i have to join people on my friends list to play. When i successfully join a game of crucible i always notice how one or two people leave the game. I have read your strategies to resolve NAT related issues although none of them have worked and i have never encountered this issue before a few days ago, i encountered the issue hours before Echoes went live. I would appreciate it if the issue is resolved instead of being left in as i know destiny 1 isn't your primary focus as it greatly degrades mine and many other player's experience with the game which many of us have to love.

    • Another Aussie here struggling with the exact same thing. Am completely unable to realistically play anything with others as I will inevitably be beavered while or after loading in. I am aware that D1 and D2 share servers so they both go down for maintenance together. My theory is that due to the new D2 update Bungie is working on things in the background, or simply the increase of players is causing extra server strain. Either way there are periods of up to several weeks where the game becomes unplayable and it would be so amazing if they could fix it up so D1 was much less affected by whatever is going on. I'm sure current D2 servers aren't having any issues so it couldn't be that hard to make D1 error codes more lenient.

Hey there, also in Australia here. You might need to have a chat, with with your ISP and get them to turn off CGNAT. This usually helps most if on console, may also help if on PC too.
Because of the way CGNAT ‘shares’ and cycles your public-facing IP address, devices trying to connect to a port in your network can’t locate your desired destination. This becomes an issue because the routers on your ISP network won't know which device is yours or direct traffic in this specific way.
