I'm going to make this quick and simple. From what has been shared around online, support for Linux is possible and has been done with Stadia in the past. So why cant we have this support now?
The bare minimum most Linux users are asking for is to not get banned while trying to run the game under Proton or in a bottle. From my understanding the main issue is the anti-cheat, but Battle Eye works in other games under proton. I know many users in the Linux community will take on the challenge to get the game to work with proton (myself included) but we cant when our accounts are being threaten with a ban hammer for even trying.
Cheating will not suddenly become a huge problem by allowing Linux support, those fears are unfounded and baseless. Cheaters are already getting around the anti cheat daily and will continue to do so no matter the platform you play on, its what cheaters do and it will be a war until the end of the time.
To reiterate, we are not asking for a native build (although it would be nice) we are simply asking to allow proton users, to update the battle eye config for proton support and the community will do the rest to get the game to run, just like we have before in the past for many other games.
