Iron Banner Rank Points Buggy
I have been playing a lot of Iron Banner today and - to my annoyance - noticed that I sometimes don't receive any rank points at all. I don't get the pop up on the side that tells me how much I received and I have the same amount of rank points as I had before the match.
Am I just missing a weird intended mechanic like "no rank points on a loss due to the mercy rule"? Or is that a bug that not many people are encountering/noticing/reporting?

This has been happening to me as well. It's not a consistent bug. I've played about 10 or so Iron Banner games today, and only received rank-up points for about half of them. Typically, I don't receive Crucible rank-up points either when I don't receive the Iron Banner points. It has happened on both wins and losses. The loot will usually drop though and I am getting credit towards my challenges for games that are not counting for rank-up points.
