Why is everything doing so much more damage except for guardians?

I dont know if I'm in the minority here, but it makes no sense that you removed threat and surges from dungeons and raids, but not base level vanguard ops. It also makes no sense why a fellow experienced guardian and I are loading into a base level vanguard op and immediately chain resing each other in the first red bar encounter due to non-threat aligned damage. At the same time, enemies I used to be able to 1 or 2 shot with trash weapons are now tanks that require surge aligned, meta-weapon loadouts to clear an op in a reasonable time frame. Base level ops should be a quick jaunt through a power fantasy so that new players can learn the mechanics of those operations, not a slog through a one-shot bullet hell. In fact, it feels like across the board, everything's damage and health has been increased immensely and champions have been added everywhere to add to the insanity, while guardians can barely peak out of cover without getting deleted. Why is everything tuned to a guardian having 100 resilience? Why even have resilience at that point if you're just going to force us to use that stat, and then you still make everything one-shot guardians like it's supposed to be a GM. A rift in a base level vanguard op can't even give you enough regen to survive a yellow bar's attacks? A boss in a base level vanguard op is supposed to make the best option to just chain rez while dealing damage because every time you peak out to deal damage you somehow take a two-shot from a base level attack? You're supposed to dread the slog of base level encounters in vanguard ops? I dont think so. I think everything has been over-tuned. It all feels like I'm going back to neomuna to just grab a collectable and end up having to clear my path because trying to run through is going to get my sparrow blown to bits. Please, tune base level stuff for new players, not people who want to run gms. It's insane to think that people asking for more challenging content are going to be running vanguard ops and thinking, "wth? this is supposed to be a challenge!" We all know it's not supposed to be a challenge, so please stop trying to make base level encounters something that they're not supposed to be.

  • I did glassway GM last night and it was a breeze with song of flame and prismatic, never felt stronger in the game imo

    • Stats don’t make sense to manage when you do not have anything in the game to tell you the context of the stat. Max resilience is 30% DR. Okay, but I have no clue how much damage enemies do to me? So I pretty much have no reason not to go for max because I would have no idea what the difference between 20 and 30 percent actually is.

      • It’s not complicated, Bungie only wants streamers and full time Destiny players. Casuals and solo players can go play something else if they’re not happy, or so I’ve been told.

          This is another Bungie attempt to please everyone without prior thought that it would upset the community yet again. There has always been regular gameplay and then harder, end game content for those who liked a challenge. There will be players who agree with the OP, and those who don't. I've said this many times, Bungie hate the word "option" and it reflects in how the game has evolved. In all the years I've played this game, I've NEVER seen a post on here complaining that regular play needs making more difficult. We have strikes, nightfalls, and GM nightfalls. We have dungeons and master dungeons. We have raids and master raids. Why make EVERYTHING harder? I assume that there are more casual players than challengers or challenge seekers, and what Bungie is doing, is pushing out the casuals to please the minority of challengers. We need to go back to regular, hard, and extra hard content. If the regular gameplay is too hard, find another game. If the harder stuff is not challenging enough, find another game. But pushing the casual majority out to please the minority of challengers is a sure way to lower the player base. Finally, lets concentrate more on weapon play. There's too much emphasis on builds and complex space magic that does nothing but cause glitches and technical issues. Let's have the shooter looter back that we all enjoyed.

          • You need to use the tools available to you to stay alive. For example stasis. If your using prismatic without some form of stasis then your doing it wrong. The best two warlock builds are speakers sight healing build or getaway artist turrets with breakwatcher and devour. Also use arcane needle it's the best melee option. Use Feed the Void. There's do much healing and damage resistance you can tap into if you know what your doing. You can still die in higher en's stuff but you should be smoking everything in regular strikes. I mean it's not that bad so 🤷 idk...

            • You know what's crazy people read removed surges from raids and dungeons but didn't read the next part. They compensated by having all subclass damage types and kinetic damage being boosted to its equivalent. You still have surges but it's every weapon now. 🙃

I ran the current one just to get those stupid new light questlines out of my way and we were forced to hiding in the leftmost shelter because wyverns and the bosses killed us in 3 seconds or less if we came out in the open

            • Agree we need to feel power fantasy again… by that I mean in difficult content… there’s so much potential with new exotics and builds but it just feels like an illusion… one guardian should be able to delete a master level champion just using abilities… that should be the benchmark

                • The whole game is overtuned now. Me and a buddy had been farming an old dungeon last season for weapons we didn't have yet, we had a 2-man strategy for easy and fast clears... then this season we are struggling to complete encounters due to being overrun by everything that almost one-shots us, and needing to farm heavy drops in between way too many damage phases. We're both ready to quit and that makes me sad

                • Thing is, Bungie has literally never been good at balancing. With them, players are either so overpowered as to make content trivial (i.e. Solar Subclasses in Season of the Wish), or ridiculously underpowered as to make content unfun (i.e. Neomuna), and then there's their idea of "challenge" to contend with, which is to throw a veritable horde of enemies at you that are super tough, super aggressive, laser accurate, and instantly respawn, all while the boss is dropping nukes on you like it's Fallout. Also doesn't help that Bungie nerfs any class that even attempts to compete with Hunters.

                  • What tipped me off to the insane difficulty has been the seasonal activity. Things would be going fine until a random minotaur shows up and 2 shots every team member with AOE splash damage. Then there was that hydra boss room where the only strat everyone did was to hide on the spawn ledge because there were multiple bosses that killed you faster than you could so the only place anyone could survive and deal damage from was going backwards from spawn. Destiny isn't an action RPG, you can't level up or improve your stats if you're struggling with something because the game caps your level for every activity and you can only have so much in individual stats. Like, everyone knows you basically have to be at 100 resilience at all times and even then it barely helps at all even for someone with super optimized min-maxed stats.

                  • The base vanguard ops playlist, meant for new lights and casuals, has a power requirement of 1945! How are people supposed to level if their one non-patrol gamemode is level gated? Also, these 1945 activities are all -5. Why? Sure it makes me lean forward a little, but what about casuals and new lights? They are being wrecked by this difficulty increase. Bungie has always been abysmal at catering to new players, and I must say Final Shape is the worst time to get into destiny. Activities are overtuned, new light quest was bugged at some point, the new player activities are level gated. Nevermind the boring -blam!- new light questline and the dcv.

                  • B/c that is what sweats/streamers consider fun and b/c of that so does Bungie. So you should be having more "fun"

                      The game's damage system is flawed Guardians don't deal (and receive?) the same damage to every enemy regardless of power level I guess to be effective, you [b]must[/b] use damage buffs/resist I think it's not fun, it's too simple.

                      • It really should be a breeze for base level content, as not everyone has the gear, knowledge, or playstyle to take on tougher content. There of course needs to be a challenge for players that do want that, but this is why we have tiers of content such as Expert, Legendary, Master, etc. I feel that it would be such a quality of life improvement if you could balance your play-style around the game, not vice-versa. I am talking options for Grandmaster Patrols and Story-mode Raids, with increased or decreased loot drops depending on the level you are running. In my example you could just select your difficulty on the character login for the session and have fun at your level of experience, maybe change it up 5 more levels each time you want more challenge or experience the full game at your own pace, with appropriate rewards and equivalent chances at drops.

                      • I don’t mind that things can get challenging, I usually don’t do that content anyways. I don’t think they should get rid of the harder difficulties either. Instead they should just make another difficulty level that keeps the activity at its original light level.. that way we could have fun just blasting through everything as seasoned guardians. If we hangout with legends like Saint who head bash vex for fun then I want to feel that powerful. And I guess they would have to make light level matter again. If you are going to have super hard difficulty you should also have a super easy difficulty I believe.

                          I don't get how they learned nothing from the community and press response to the Craftening. Making fun content regardless of difficulty is way more important and brings back way more players than this endless seeking of a perfect balance that will never come and doesn't matter.

                            To me it's mostly the inconsistency. Some strikes and activities feel ok, while the next one is turned up to 100 - for no obvious reason. And I don't know if we're more aware when it comes to NF's and such - and actually put time in to what we're using and wearing - but lately I feel like those have been easier than much of the "base content". Regardless, there's been a lot of "where the hell did that come from" - moments lately. Also, did they nerf ammo drops? I'm wearing mods for increased drops yet I've lost counts of the times I've more or less had to run half a strike, NF or other activity with just primary ammo. Then there's the bigger issue, with the content being tuned the way it is now it just feels completely pointless to level up. At no point have I felt like I've "become legend". It's just a hamster wheel. And they had a chance of making old dungeons and whatnot available to more players - by allowing us to over-level it and have it in MM - but they dropped the ball on that one too.

                          • Everyones favorite streamer Salta cried about the gaming being to easy. He should have his Final Shape Raid emblem revoked. He complained about giving people 48 hours to get it and he didnt even beat it in 24 hours.
